Absolutely love Kinchens, he was the general of Miamis defense in 23, making sure everyone was always lined up, we were a mess without him in 24.

He will give up the big play while trying to make a play every now and again, but his playmaking far outweighs the bad that he allows occasionally.

I'm wrong more than I am right, but I loved the Kinchens pick when it happened and love it even more now. We've needed a ball hawk out there at FS for a long time.

I do think he is slower than ideal, but that's why we got him at pick 99; you have to accept some level of weakness at that point in the draft. Just felt his instincts would mean more good than bad.

I disagree - early in the year yes.

The last handful of games he has been solid but not as good as Kinchen's or Fiske.
We can agree to disagree. DC’s are already game planning for Verse.
Not the case for Kitchens.
They may game plan for Fiske soon, though don’t think it’s happened yet

If I had a choice of one of the three, I’d pick Verse for sure.

For that matter, I’d take Verse over Kitchens and Fiske together

I liked the Kinchens pick out of the gate, on the cusp of the 4th rnd pick 99 he was a lower risk & high potential investment.

Early on the mistakes were do to familiarity I believe, he was always playing with speed, effort, and instinct which showed promise.

Once he got comfortable and learned all the nuances he started to perform better and better.
This tells me the cerebral part is their too and tied to the athleticism. This aligns with his leadership role @ Miami that @ramsplaya16 spoke of.

Verse is the highest draft pick so you won't be orginal in that take.

Has anyone had a better two year run on draft picks?

2023: Avila, Turner, Young, Allen, Nacua, Evans. Johnson gets his share of snaps on defense.

2024: Verse, Fiske, Corum, Kinchens, Limmer, Whittington, Karty.

All solid contributors to the Rams success. And figure to contribute to future success. The future is bright.

Not on point to your question but the Steelers' 1974 Draft has to be one of the all-time-greats.

Lynn Swann in Round 1 (#21). Followed by Jack Lambert in Round 2 (#46), John Stallworth in Round 4 (#82) and Mike Webster in Round 5 (#125). All four are in the Hall of Fame.

I think Verse is more consistently disruptive than anybody on our Dline. Which creates much of the opportunities for the other guys. He really has to work on his tackling though. It is the reason for his lack luster sack numbers. that should be his biggest offseason priority.

Last game was better, but I thought he had a stretch of games where he wasn't getting much pressure - he also got benched for a while against buffalo because he lost contain.

I still think he was a good draft choice though - he has been very productive for a rookie.

You could say this about any of our rookie defenders.
I can't quite agree with that sentiment. There is a level of play where, when I see it, I know the dude translates to this level.

Verse has it in terms of the power in his game, while still having enough athleticism and light enough feet that I know he can stick on the edge. Fiske has it in terms of his interior pass rush ability, I know he's got to improve vs the run but as it stands he's a top end rotational interior pass rusher which will not change and will carry his roster spot into the future.

In previous classes we saw it with AD of course. But also with Kupp, who was routinely separating and showing that ability to carry an offensive burden right away. This is opinion based of course as well. But I was certain both those dudes were going to be elite players. With those types there is no need to wait and see.

Wait and see is for the rest of them, where they are going to need to bust their asses to stick on the roster or achieve a higher end level of play. Where they don't have something about them that is special. I mean if you look at the rest of our draft haul I think both Karty and Limmer are going to succeed at this level but neither have been to that level where I am certain about it. In the end this stuff is all a dice roll but the first season there are guys who you just know they're gonna be pros for as long as their bodies hold up.

Just replying to your post where you say Fiske and Kitchens are the top D rookies.

Nice way to change the discussion btw.
I never changed it - people had to chime in with their typical group so I had top defend my opinion.

In fact you chimed in and said verse was better lol.

So you changed it not me... and then just blamed me for it.

That's magical.

I guess we really do not agree here because have already seen regression in Verse.

If you plotted his pressure's I bet you will see they have declined over the year.

I think he could be a monster for sure -but like anyone else he has to prove it over time.

What I saw in the Buffalo game was he was gassed and even on a couple of plays just stood at the line of scrimmage. I think his benching was more letting him rest.

He pretty much confirmed after the game he was benched because he was not getting contain.

You could find the video pretty easily I'm guessing of him talking about it.
