Good for him and the team. For the record this pleases me. Would rather that money goes to Teo and a couple other pieces.

If only women porn stars could last 15 years and get compensation like that. Hilarious!!!!

I think I called this a little… the Mets with the checkbook won out.

It’s not gonna stop people from saying the Dodgers are buying World Series but there are like 6 other teams with deep deep pockets

Yes, the Dodgers were the best in 2024. Probably will be back in the World Series in 2025. Hopefully, the Yankees will join them. With the starting staff bolstered by the acquisition of Fried and Devin Williams/Luke Weaver taking care of the 8th and 9th, the Yankees just need a right fielder (Santander???), third baseman (Bregman????) and a first baseman (Walker????). And then of course there's always the chance they put out for another starter. People can say "they bought their way in" but as a fan I don't GAF.

Dude baseball needs a salary cap

Have no clue how they could realistically implement it

The way it is now its great for my team since they're one of the franchises with deep pockets. But its gotta be tough for small market teams that cannot compete financially. Once in a while one might win it but they can't sustain it like teams from LA and NY. I remember the Marlins went all in and won a world series. Then had a fire sale because the couldn't keep paying the salaries.

I wanted the Yankees to retain Soto....any fan of any team would want the same....when the numbers were predicted around 600 mil. Some Yankee fans expecting his exit for more money claimed the Yankees could get more collective talent for that money. I thought if they didn't resign him, they wouldn't spend that much on acquisitions. But watching what they're doing since Soto signed with the Mets makes me wonder. Are they pissed? Are they going the extra mile, spending the extra money, to prevent future perceptions like "they should have signed Soto"? We'll find out if they pony up for a couple more guys like Bregman and Santander. Or one of them and another front line starter.

I really enjoyed watching Soto, paired with Judge in the lineup, but he did create a defensive problem for the Yankees. They had to play Soto in RF, where he still was not very good. That moved Judge to Centerfield, where he wasn't good. Stanton is the DH, so Soto had to play the outfield. It was too much of a defensive liability.

I'm happy with the Yankees off-season so far. The only thing I'd have done different is I'd keep Torres. His bat in the leadoff spot was valuable, despite subpar defense at second.

Getting Kyle Tucker would have been huge but the Astros wanted too much in return for one year of Tucker. The Yankees already traded one young, top level pitcher for one year of Soto along with a few good bullpen arms. It was fun but in hindsight, I'd rather they had not traded Mike King for one year of Soto.
