I’m going to agree on this.. but… I will say it’s just an issue this year because she’s done pods with Stu or solo. Those are not good.

Jim was back and it was GREAT,
 
If any of you haven't listened to "The Playcallers" podcast here's the link. Probably one of the best podcasts out there due to the way you get to hear real takes from a collection of the young offensive gurus driving this league.

Unpopular opinion but she really soured on me during the whole Cooper Kupp and Joe Noteboom injury ordeal during training camp.

She's a standard beat reporter. Nothing more nothing less.

Obviously, I’m a fan and disagree.

She’s provided insight over the last few years I haven’t seen before.. not even from Jim Thomas ;)

She told us the D was good and DIFFERENT in 2020 in training camp, for example.

Her feelings on this draft class showed up early as well.

She's great, however sometimes with the podcast she becomes a little self indulgent, talking about the craft of writing and how much hours she puts in, how much coffee is needed. There's no need. She is very good at what she does.

The play callers was one of the best pods I have listened to.

Hey, I brag about that myself. If you've got a specific skill that you're good at, why not flaunt it?

I have no problems with Jourdan as our beat writer. As Jim Thomas and Bernie the Hutt proved, you can do a lot worse.

I mean…she was 100% right about Kupp. He *did* experience a setback. He went from returning to practice and being on track to play week 1 to missing the first 4 games. People took exception of her use of the word “setback” but that’s 1000% what it was.

I remember the whiney assed quotes from Bernie in USA Today when Charlotte and Jacksonville got NFL franchises. They quoted his column "Honor among Thieves" from the Post-Dispatch. Then the Rams showed up and he was kissing ass, until he was whining once again. He'll always have his first love, the Cardinals.

God Jim Thomas was dryer than a saltine. I wonder if he and the old equipment manager are still besties???

I used to have no problem with her. Lately especially this offseason. Ways she's reporting. Slowly fueling the negative vibe of the team during summer. Just how I felt.

Of course he did. I don't care about any of that tho. Or definitions of setback vs muscle strain. I am not gonna get into a definition talk again because that's not the point.

I remember that press conference like it happened yesterday. I watches/listened to it live. Coach was straight up transparent of his injury. She asked him if it was a setback, he agreed and she went on twitter and posted that as if he said that first thing. But it was only after asking multiple times about it. That permeated all over the news world. I have a problem with that. Just report what he said not how you got him to say something.

Or on Joe Noteboom's camp availability. "Not sure". Why couldn't just report that coach was hopeful he'd be back the following week? Nothing on that front. More fuel for the negative fire.

Sorry while I acknowledge she's does her job well but when I started to see her post stuff out of context or outside the actual interaction I'm not a fan. I don't care who it is.

As I recall it, McVay was purposely downplaying Kupp's hamstring injury and his tone and body language were strongly implying it was just a "tweak" and Kupp was "day to day". It was only after Jourdan pressed him multiple times that McVay grudgingly acknowledged the word "setback" might be appropriate. So I don't have a problem with Jourdan leading with the word "setback" because she had to work so hard to get the truth out of McVay.

I think Jourdan does a fantastic job and calls it how she sees it. If she thinks the Rams are being stupid about the backup QB position (which they were), she points it out. But if she thinks McVay and the Rams are showing impressive grit and mental toughness (which they are), she'll point that out too, as she did in her column last week.

Plenty of Rams reporters have been just awful about stoking that "negative vibe" about the Rams, as you rightly describe. (Jim Thomas and Bernie and Lindsay Thiry were terrible in that regard). But I see Jourdan as being 90% positive on the Rams, and only criticizes when she has good reason to do so.

Quite honestly Jourdan has heaped a ton of praise on McVay and Snead and the whole Rams organization... maybe you haven't seen some of it...? There have been plenty of troll-ish Rams reporters, but IMO Jourdan is definitely not one of them.

I mean coach called it a muscle strain straight out the gate in that particular presser. IDK it just didn't sit right with me with how she led it as if coach called it willingly, and it because she did it became this huge news story. Not a fan of that tatic.

Well duh we knew about the hammy and knew about the strain after he straight up told everyone.

And tbf i dont think she's nearly as bad as those other ppl but for me, personally, this past summer, she took a step down after these events. I don't follow beat reporters that much to begin with and she just became another one in a long line. To me anyway.
