I think Wayne was the best of his time. With the exception of Ben Johnson who was the best overall cowboy actor ever. (IMHO) Favorite movie by Wayne would be the Shootist. The story of the aging dying gunslinger combined with the irony of what was going on in his real life. The blurred lines of, were they outlaws or lawmen? Or whatever fit the moment? The choice of dying in your bed screaming or standing on your own two feet with a gun in your hand the same way you had lived your life. It was the way we hope our heroes would be. All star cast, great story, overall great flick.
Johnson was a working cowboy, recruited to Hollywood.

I’ve gotta go Wayne.

Can’t even pick a favorite - Yellow Ribbon, Searchers, True Grit, McKlintock is hilarious.

Eastwood is 1b...

For one movie, Steve McQueen owned the Magnificent 7

and then there was Walker: Texas Ranger.....
Chuck Norris' tears cured cancer.....Too bad he never cried.

Clint 1A to me...Wayne was a little before my time.

You tell @-X- that Trapper John lost it when he left midway thru the show. His cowboy card was made....

Adam Cartwright doesn’t shower.
He only takes blood baths.

Adam Cartwright invented the running of the bulls. He once visited Spain and they’re still running away from him to this day.
There is no Theory of Evolution. Just creatures that John Wayne allowed to live.

I was just watching the end of Bonanza with Adam Cartright giving all the other cowboys that "come hither," look. That show ended and a real cowboy strode toward the Long Branch saloon on the dusty streets of Dodge. Matt Dillon, US Marshall.
