Jets, Eagles trade for Mariota. Slow news day.

This is so crazy it could have legs. It's no secret Kelly needs MM so why hide it.
But no way they plan it out so far ahead.
 
This deal would have to be finalized when the Jets are on the clock. The terms would have already been agreed to. The only thing left to do is wait to see if Mariota is available at #6. That this news is out is not good for the Eagles. Everyone who would want Mariota knows they have to get above the Jets to get him.

No way can this be true, this far out from the draft. We have what, 7 weeks to go? Mariota's pro day isn't until next week, and Winston's isn't until the 31st. Looking at how much Bridgewater fell after his pro-day, its crazy to be talking trades at this point.

If it is, the Eagles Hierarchy would be pretty pissed off that this leaked out.

First the new Jets head coach would have to think that Geno Smith was the answer at QB. I don't see how he can feel that way after watching his last season. But maybe he does.
Second, if this is true and I doubt it, then any team wanting Mariota would know to trade ahead of the Jets to bypass the Eagles.

I think reporters are making too much of this 'Kelly wants Mariota' business. Would he like to have him on the team? Sure. Is he pulling out all of the stops like the reports suggest? Doubt it. Kelly is a hot topic since he entered the league, even before he did, and he continues to be one of the more interesting head coaches because of the mystery of him doing things differently and being lauded as some offensive genius. In the end he is just a man, a coach and is like the rest of them. Trading up to 1 or 2 from 20 is nearly impossible. Trading up to 6 from 20 is more realistic, but still would take a lot of valuable picks. An acurate report about it this far ahead of the draft is unlikely.

I can't fathom this is true (at least not public). Any coach or GM tipping their hand this early is an idiot.
 
If Kelly does it, it'll mark the beginning of the end for him. These types of trades almost never work.
 
well, Eagles were talking with Tampa to get #1 overall, so yea i could easily see this...especially if NY isn't sold on Mariota

Redskins traded for the Rams no.2 pick around this time in 2012.

If the Eagles have decided Mariota is their guy and they want him no matter what, it makes sense that they have trades set up already depending on how far he falls. What would Kelly need to see a pro day for anyway, he's already seen everything he needed to see while he was coaching him.
 
Who knows? If Foles does come to Rams, that will sure add some excitement.

Tomorrow will be an interesting day...
