TRUMAINE JOHNSONDB, NEW YORK JETS

The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reports the Jets have "massive buyer's remorse" about CB Trumaine Johnson's contract from last offseason.
The Jets handed Johnson a five-year, $72.5 million contract last March, making him the league's second-highest paid corner behind Josh Norman. Johnson had a forgettable first year, battling injuries and playing nowhere close to a shutdown level. It's essentially a three-year, $48 million pact in reality, but the Jets are hoping new DC Gregg Williams, who coached Johnson with the Rams, will help unlock Johnson's play from his pre-Jets days.

Funny cause he was injured off and on with the Rams. I don't think he ever was a shutdown corner. Williams should know how to use him to salvage the signing.

Who cares? That’s money out of a billionare’s pocket. Rams got 2 years of a DB in his prime without having to commit long term. We had the cap space at the time and a need at that position. Why cry over a billionare’s money lol

Yep, I have my reservations over StanK managing Arsenal but his management with the Rams from an FO standpoint is excellent

Wait a minute: are you saying that the Jets signed Janoris as well as Trumaine? I can see why they have buyers remorse. :P

Well the way I look at it is tj was always overrated and was nothing more than a solid #2 cb. Desperate teams do desperate things and it's what always drives up the market for these type of players. Obviously the Rams made the right move.
Now that we have Peter's and talib for next year we should be pretty solid. Peter's has a lot to show if he really wants a good contract, otherwise I'd suspect that he'll be the next one to walk and get overpaid by a desperate team.

There is always going to be desperate teams overpaying players. It's amazing that the Rams got Woods on such a sweet contract. I bet he will be getting some big offers from other teams next year.

It's always worse when you have a winning team. Everyone wants to raid your players.

Johnson to me always seemed to be about the money. I wouldn't be surprised if he started to mail it in once he got paid and was not at the same time playing for another contract under a franchise tag. That might be the problem as much as anything. I also think some posters in this thread are devaluing how good he was as a Ram. He wasn't a lockdown guy, but he was still playing at a #1 CB level in my opinion. Not an elite one, but a #1 nevertheless. Not every player can dominate like Aaron Donald.
