Jeanty vs. Penn State, Carter, Warren - anybody watching?

L-O-L. Who has Oregon played? They beat Ohio State, Boise State, and Penn State, three teams in the CFP. They also beat Illinois, a ranked team, and Michigan, a team that may end up ranked. They were the #1 team in the country until OSU beat them today. Jeanty smoked their asses. Keep on hating, dude. I'll just enjoy a great player being great.

P.S. Running the football is, in fact, playing the game.

Not hating on the kid. Obviously he's extremely talented. A threat to go to the house every time he touches the ball. But he didn't play many strong defenses, particularly strong run defenses this year so I think the level of awe is just a bit high.

As far as Oregon is concerned, their schedule was weak. Weaker than Illinois'. At a neutral site vs good teams they were 1-1 (only because of the offense; they allowed 78 points their last 2 games). They were lucky to get Ohio St. at Eugene the first time around, where they've lost one game the last 6 years (and allowed 31 in that one!!!).

They got exposed last night.

But yeah, not hating on Jeanty.

Sugar Bowl kicks off at 3pm. Haven't watched Gunner Stockton play, should be interesting vs that Notre Dame defense. I have Notre Dame as a finalist in these playoffs so that means Georgia is sure to win.

No, it wasn't. Nor were they exposed because a team they beat earlier this year beat them the second time around. That's simply football. If Oregon isn't a good football team, what is Penn State? Because Oregon beat them at a neutral site.

He did first game of the year, IMHO, TreVeyon Henderson will end up being a better pro, but then again, I am biased.

Who knows. I'd bet on Jeanty. (And it was the second game of the year.)

Would rather have Quinshon Judkins in the second round or Raheim Sanders in the fifth than Jeanty in the first. Just saying. I think Judkins could be just as special as Jeanty as a runner. He isn't the receiver Jeanty is, though.

Yeah, look at Darrell Henderson... he had no vision. He was similar in size to Kyren, maybe a little bigger. He was faster than Williams, but he had no vision, and you can see what a difference that makes.

Of the guys I've watched, Kaleb Johnson has the best vision in the draft imo. He doesn't break as many tackles as Judkins or Jeanty, but he sees the field so well, finds the crease quickly (but has patience when it's needed), and hits it. Great acceleration too. Lacks the extra gear for elite top-end speed, but he gets to top speed quickly. Talented in the passing game too. He'll kill it for a ZBS team that blocks well.

Our debate centered on Jeanty and his weak schedule. You cited Oregon and the fact he ran on that defense. I'm saying they are over rated as a team but more so, as a defense. At least a run defense. They were ranked #15 in total D. They were #57 vs the run. They were ranked #52 in rush attempts defended. And they had a weak schedule. They practically had a Pac-10 schedule in the Big 10.

They were a good TEAM but IMHO, that was mainly because of their offense. Get a lead and defend the pass. They beat Ohio St by 1 (31 pts allowed) in Eugene and Penn St by 6 (37 pts allowed) at a neutral site. They got exposed vs Ohio St......it was 31-0 halfway through the 2nd quarter. They had 64 yards on their first 6 possessions. Like many teams who live through their offense, when that gets throttled, they can't keep it close and are done.

That is not a legit #1 team (IMHO) and so they aren't any longer.

And having said all that, I am not hating on Jeanty. He's a supreme talent. But he didn't play anybody (including Oregon). On an NFL team, with a good QB, a good OL and a good offense, he's going to thrive, most of the time. I'd love it if the Rams got him. It doesn't make my statement about the level of competition he faced and subsequently my statement about Oregon's pedestrian defense untrue.

Henderson his head & shoulders ahead of Judkins. Watch them, when the hole is there, Judkins gets 9 yards, Henderson gets 29 yards. The best thing that Quinshon Judkins has done at Ohio State is....Keeping TreVeyon Henderson fresh.

Stockton played great, he's definitely one to watch next year. Sure, he held the ball a little too long a couple of times leading to sacks but it was his first career start. You'd think a kid in his first start would get happy feet before holding too long. A couple of drops didnt help either

That was a weird game. Me, being a dumbass, thought it was still an 8 pm game, so when I thought I was turning on the pre-game, it was 23-10 ND with 1:49 left. I thought, man, the Irish kicked their ass. Then I watched it from the beginning. What a strange game that turned on 3 plays. The fumble right before the half and consequent ND TD and the kickoff return in the 3rd. I thought Stockton played really well. Georgia's D played even better IMO.

Henderson averaging more yards per carry and can take it to the house. He is also an underrated receiver. Again they pretty much split carries, but Judkins was good, however, Henderson was better.

Yeah I like the scrappy bastard type at QB. Sometimes their impact in the huddle, just the way they energize it, can make them more effective than a QB who has the better arm and skills. So I like what I saw from Stockton too. Problem was that Notre Dame's defense played lights out and they got the turnover field position and teams TD. But going forward he looks like he'll have a chance to run that show and he might be like Stetson.

On the other side of the ball I was not impressed at all by Leonard. His timely runs for first downs were nice. But watching him play QB is rough man. I wouldn't draft him with a 6th rounder.

1. They only played three former Pac-10 teams this year (two in conference and one out).
2. They did not play a weak schedule. That is false. They beat three teams that ended up in the CFP, two of which are still alive.
3. Their run defense isn't weak. It's on par with UGA's. According to ESPN, they're #38 in rushing yards allowed. They have at least three NFL DLs (Derrick Harmon, Jordan Burch, and Jamaree Caldwell), and multiple other guys on defense who will play on Sundays.
4. You can't be "exposed" by a team you've beaten. Oregon beat Ohio State earlier in the year. Sometimes, you're the better team. Sometimes, they are. Depends on the day. That's football.
5. They earned their #1 ranking by beating every team on their schedule, including Ohio State and Penn State.
You can keep talking yourself in circles, but these things aren't changing. And yes, you are hating on Jeanty. The fact that you continue to argue he played nobody is a testament to that. (I also have to laugh at the claim that Oregon has a "pedestrian defense" when you just told us that they're ranked in the top 15 in the country. I must point out that they're giving up less yards and points per game than UGA. No sane person would call UGA a "pedestrian defense.")

I wasn't impressed. Granted, his LT played like crap, and his WRs dropped way too many passes. But he didn't do anything to elevate the team imo.
