It really is all about fixing the offense between now and September.

Our defense is good enough to win with and has the potential to be great. Yes, we cannot start the season slow defensively, again... But I don't expect that to happen this time around.

But what about the offense?

There are pieces in place. Foles, Britt, Cook, Mason, Austin, Quick, Bailey, etc.

We have a new OC.

The offensive line has been discussed ad nauseam around here.

Last year we averaged 20.2ppg.

Of the 12 playoff teams in 2014, only 3 fell short of 24ppg.

Of the 11 teams that scored more than 24ppg, only 3 missed the playoffs.

Add it all up and it really comes down to this; we need to average 24ppg. Figure that out and we're playoff bound with this defense.

Amen to that CGI!
The offense is really all I'm worried about and more specifically the o-line. Honestly if we get our O-Line to perform just average not to mention a bit above average I don't see how we couldn't average 24ppg or more with our D and special teams giving the O a short field.

Having a healthy starting QB will definitely help those numbers. It's hard for any team to win in this league when you are trotting out the backups every Sunday. But we will need some help on on the O line, or even the best QB will not look good out there.

Out of 19 seasons those are the only 2 years that a Jeff Fisher head coached team have topped 24 ppg.

Great minds think alike....

Agreed. As usual, it is the offense that worries me. 24PPG from them and this defense eats every week.

Just started a thread about Zuerlein... how much of him getting the yips last year was the difference between us averaging an extra 3 points last year. If he had been more consistent I bet we would have been closer to a 22-23 point average per game.

gotta start winning in the division first.

Averaging 14 points per game over the last 6 games against Seattle isn't going to cut it.

Great post, you're right, we have to score more points on offense, and I'm not talking FGs, we need more TDs, we need to be more clinical and do the basics, I've said it before, March down field on 4yards a drive, I really don't care, do the basics, keep hold of the ball until were in their endzone and then let our fresh defence get the ball back to us quickly.

C'mon Rams!!!!

Well, cutting down on offensive penalties could also help extend drives and give us more chances to score. I can almost forgive some of the defensive penalties because I love the aggressiveness of our defense but I feel like we got to clean up pre-snap offensive penalties and the occasional offensive pass interference penalties we had that killed drives.

To me it's been a combination of a few things; too many good drives ending up in FGs instead of TDs and one quarter per game where they go dry. For example, they were good at starting games and getting points early-usually during their first drives of the game, but too often they came out of haltime flat. I know you can light it up every quarter but they need more 10 point quarters and fewer 3 pointers. Just overall offensive consistency.

agree. but the sad thing is that even with our lower scoring average last year we still could've gone at least .500 if our QBs hadnt directly given the defenses so many points.

I definitely agree we need to score more. However, Arizona won 11 games scoring 14 points LESS than us.
It sure would help if our D shows up game 1, not game 5 or 6.

But with Dante Fowler, we'd only have to score 18 points a game. :mustache:
