This is the current waiver wire order in the NFL as of 11/06/2021

Is the waiver wire order a more realistic NFL power ranking barometer?

If a player gets waived, the Lions get first crack at claiming.

Current NFL waiver wire rankings

32. Lions 0-8
31. Dolphins 1-7
30. Texans 1-7
29. Jaguars 1-6
28. Jets 2-6

27. Washington football team 2-6
26. NY Giants 2-6
25. Eagles 3-5
24. Seahawks 3-5
23. Bears 3-5

22. Falcons 3-4
21. 49ers 3-4
20. Vikings 3-4
19. Colts 4-5
18. Panthers 4-4

17. Broncos 4-4
16. Patriots 4-4
15. Browns 4-4
14. Chiefs 4-4
13. Chargers 4-3

12. Steelers 4-3
11. Bengals 5-3
10. Bills 5-2
09. Raiders 5-2
08. Ravens 5-2

07. Saints 5-2
06. Titans 6-2

Packers beat the cards straight up, they should be ranked #1. But look at the NFC, lots of tough teams.

I agree but the NFL has a their own formula to justify the waiver wire order.

Why the NFL powers currently have the Packers behind the Cardinals (even though they have the same record yet the Packers beat them) is a head scratcher.

The Packers lost to the Saints. Packers record is 7-1

The Cardinals lost to the Packers. Cardinals record is 7-1

Why do the Packers get to claim a waived player before the Cardinals?

Can someone explain this to me?

Maybe it values strength of schedule first? IDK what each teams strength of schedule is, but that's my only guess.

EDIT: I did some searching and can't find a definitive answer. I did find sites with a different list than what you have. Titans were second, Packers were fourth. Not sure how that works *at all*. In any case, I think it's an unsolved mystery at this point. Someone get Commode Riker in here.

The waiver wire is done based on the current draft order at the time. Nothing more than that. Draft order is based upon win vs loss.

Goodell flips his two headed coin.

Some of it may have to do with past wire claims.

I dunno
