I don't know, I think TE in this offense is a tough job and Higbee, like Akers, needs to be involved early and often to get him rolling.

For the 10th time... if Benny Skow can play fullback, he can play tight end. What is McVay waiting for? This guy would be a mismatch for any linebacker or safety, he has very good hands, and he can block. Harris has been a bust so why not try Skow.
He cant play fullback, full time. Worked as a gimmick until teams figured it out. I've always thought Skow should play a hybrid TE/WR/Iback type role, but he's got to put some weight on if he's going to consistently go up against guys that have 50+ pounds on him.
I like Higbee, although the biggest issue I have had is that he's great in the 12, but not as the inline guy. And he gets lost in a 1 TE set. So instead of letting him take more of a Kittles role, they ring in pillow soft poser types like Hopkins, Everett, Blanton etc instead of getting a snot blocking, fingers in the grass type TE who may make a play now and again, and allowing Higs to have a bigger role

Tyler Higbee is a tough one for me. I really like the guy, and appreciate what he has done for the Rams. And, while his stats are good, I don’t think he’s looked good for much of this season. Feel like Higbee has not caught the ball as smoothly most of this year, and has often had trouble staying on his feet. Also don’t think his run-blocking has been strong. The Broncos’ game really threw me because he played great.

Now, the Rams’ offense has been limited by the OL injuries; plus the loss of Kupp and Stafford … that connection opens things up for other pass catchers. There have been the injuries to Higbee himself; and he seems to have played hurt, which is another reason to really like and appreciate him. Finally, and importantly, the Rams have a real lack of depth at tight end.

All that being said, Higbee will turn 30 tomorrow; and has been banged-up. There is a $6.25M cap savings, with a post-June release designation, with a $2.375M dead-$-hit (by comparison, releasing Noteboom opens-up $8.5M of cap space but also results in $7M of dead-$).

I don’t see the Rams as big players in free agency because of limited cap space but maybe one significant signing is possible. I agree with most here that the OL, followed by Edge are the greatest needs. I would add Cornerback. Then I look at the current pool of pending free agents at those positions; and I don’t see much.

The player I think will hit free agency, and be expensive … but affordable is Miami’s Mike Gesicki. Think he would be a tremendous addition to the passing game. The Rams would still need a run-blocking compliment.

Gesicki is precisely who will give McVay a woody of the FAs. But the type he should sign is an oversized mongoloid like James to boost the run game.

Then he can run 12 and work in shitters like Hopkins who cannot block.

In considering the pros and cons of adding Gesicki, I had not considered McVay's arousal-level ... but ... OK.

Who are you referring to when you wrote James?

Jesse James. A late rounder the Steelers added years back. He's a depth/blocking type but there are plenty others to choose from as well.

What made you think of him!?!

4 teams in the past 5 seasons.

James ain’t no Joe Klopfenstein.

He's a big plodding fuck who will be cheap and can add some blocking ability to our depth.

Better than the T. Lewis project!!

What was that a 3rd rd pick ?

Let’s just hope Van & Cam keep balling out!! Let’s add Tutu Atwell to the mix as well.

So you’re a Harris fan. That’s ok. We all have our guys we would like to see get a shot because we think they’re more talented than the staff does. Mine is the guy who almost broke McVay’s jaw.

Harris can play STs until his rookie contract runs out and if he hasn’t broke through by then… NEXT.

Other than being a few years younger, how is Gesicki any better than Higbee?

Roger Carter shows good skill.I’m not a J. Harris fan. I said he doesn’t look good running routes with pass. In OTA’s there no pads.

Jared Pinckney just got promoted & Carter is still a practice squad guy.Higbee is questionable & imo The Rams will roll with a few more 12 set formations helping protect Mayfield & keep the running game going.

—I never said I liked the Jacob Harris pick. The Rams already have Brycen Hopkins who is stronger & has better hands than Harris.Johnny Mundt use to play a lot for The Rams. Blanton got cut to start the season.
—My point about Harris is he is a TE & better suited to play TE than Ben Sko.
—I also think Bobby Trees wanted to move on from The Rams. I don’t know exactly why he got traded, but his dad died right before The Rams won The Superbowl last year. Robert Woods & Big Whit changed the Culture of The Rams locker room with Sean Mcvay. If you asked Coooer Kupp what Bobby Trees meant to him,he couldn’t think him enough for the friendship & bond they had.
Brycen Hopkins has always confused me??? I never got it.I can tell you his head isn’t always dialed in right. He is a TOUGH SOB & loves contact after the catch & wants to beat the DB as well.In practice his head is not always there. His relationship with Tyler Higbee has grown & Mcvays trust in him as well.
Harris has always been a twinner & a project. IMO the pick was because The Rams wanted a bigger WR in the red zone. In comes A’ Robinson. Plus IMO Harris will always have knee issues & he does not have the right Gate to be a NFL player.
—The hype was his rookie year & he had never been in full pads. That is different than those 7 on 7 drills.

He is a big receiver.
I agree The Rams need that type of a TE. Hopkins is going to get a chance to play these next 2 games & looked good in the Superbowl. Don’t know his catch to target rate?
Mcvay was Reeds TE coach & that was something a lot of us thought he was going to add a player type like him in his offense.

Have any of these big upside athletes that Snead loves to throw picks at ever ended up being worth the round they are taken in?
Gerald Everett? George Kittle was a player he passed on. Joshua Reynolds & Ebukham were drafted before him.
He traded back & got JJ43 a long with Everett.I think if Reynolds wasn’t there I would have been upset The Rams didn’t draft Kittles. He had The Best 40 yard dash I think I ever saw at the combine.
—yes I was & am a NFL in tights fan.Kittles showed that power & speed he has from that 49. Add are you Freaking kidding me? He was from Iowa as well which means 2 way player.
That is what Higbee does , the dirty work.If anyone is watching the playoffs you’ll see what an excellent TE he is.
