In Darnold's defense, we didn't pressure him......we pummeled him! But yeah some guys are better than others. What was Goff's numbers last year under pressure? Anybody know?

Yep. No QB looks good when the opposing defense is eating his ass at 1.3 seconds.

I recall reading that Goff’s success under pressure has improved since he’s been with Detroit. The Lions have an excellent Offensive line and running game. Defenses may not be able to pressure him as effectively and fewer pressures also builds his confidence in protection even under duress. His backs are good check down options also.

But he did have a 5 int game last year and I recall a boneheaded int under pressure in the playoffs that was reminiscent of 2020 Goff.

In the 2023 playoff game the Rams didn’t put extra pressure on Goff in the first half and he was rolling them. In the second half they turned up the heat and he wasn’t as effectively.

I still think that the evidence shows that to stop the Lions, pressuring Goff up the middle is still the best strategy.

I think he over does it. It was funny years ago. Not so much for me anymore. I just find him annoying now.
I get that, though he can still go reserved like in Conclave.

He def hams it up but I always find he's doing something interesting within the "ham," so to speak,

That is true but you can say that for most QBs really.

And the ones who can escape the pocket, the best to do to them is keep them in the pocket. Don't let them escape.

Which is what they do to Lamar in the playoffs. He sucks when he can't use his athleticism to escape the pocket.

That debate medial at best… try this on for size:

Warner or Bulger? - @So Ram
Are we talking NFL careers?

I’d go with Warner & Suh they both won Superbowls and did well away from The Rams.I’d say they were both winners and made teams better.

Every team tries to pressure the QB on passing downs. The difference imo is that some stand in the pocket and stay composed and try to deliver, like Stafford.

Then others get rattled by the pressure and are more likely to make mistakes, like throwing into coverage, throwing INTs or fumbling the ball, like Goff did in 2020. He was reacting before the pressure was even close in some cases.

Only the greats can do that. And there are very few greats out there.

Never said Goff was great. I put him in the very good category.

Lithgow film performances that are better than Goff’s post season performance:

-The World According to Garp
-Blowout
-2010:The year we make contact
-Rise of the Planet of the Apes
-Twilight Zone the movie
Wait we are talking John Lithgow right?

Think I’ve only seen him in Harry and the Hendersons and Interstellar.

He’s known being a comedian? I might have to watch that list.

In terms of right now among all active QB’s or in terms of career?
From 2017 2018 2022 2023 2024

Second half of 2019 thru 2021 - He lost his confidence and Blythe was a huge reason for that.

And there are quite a few QBs in history that I consider very good but not great.

Eli Manning
Everett
Romo
Bartkowski
Pastorini

Are examples that I can think of off the top of my head.

Goff is 5-5 in the playoffs.

Better than Lamar Jackson, Dax Prescott, and Herbett.

All QBs that some consider better than Goff. And I blame a lot of their team's losses on them.
