If Goff had played well in that Super Bowl, that likely means he figured out how to overcome the biggest weakness in his game and he likely would still be a Ram because he learned how not to cave under the inside pass rush pressure.

But that never happened. He still has that same problem.

Even if Cooks caught it, the Rams still don't have enough points to win.

And we gave Jared a big contract extension right after that SB. It didn't have anything to do with why he's elsewhere.

WTH~ Tony Banks
That he ever played a snap in the NFL angers me. He was so fucking bad...

And as an aside but not really b/c that's who he was and why he sucked...I've never seen another QB lose a fumble while holding the ball with both hands and not getting hit.

Conversely, Stafford led the league in INT and they still won a SB
Turnovers werent Goff's issue, he just didnt have that killer instinct that Stafford has
Not many do
Would have loved to have beaten the Pats in the SB but all things considered it worked out best the way it did
Goff hit his absolute ceiling during the 2018 season, the KC masterpiece the final bow
He's never been near that level ever since, never will again

You are forgetting about the fumbles. Every time he got touched in the backfield, the ball was on the ground those two years. They don't show up in the passer rating, but they certainly do effect the outcome of the games.

It doesnt matter, Josh Allen led the league in turnovers too
Again, the turnovers werent Goff's issue, he just doesnt have the killer instinct that the elite qb's have

It actually DOES matter when he lost 9 fumbles in those two seasons.
His total turnovers were almost as many as his TDs that he threw.
A pocket QB needs to throw twice as many TDs as INTs to be effective, but those two years he only threw 20 and 22 TDs. Not good enough.
I do agree about the killer instinct part.

It's one of those zombie questions that you CANNOT kill!!!

We need a "Let's Beat a Dead Horse" thread where posters can keep debating these old arguments. Or at least rename this one so we know where to go when we are bored.
You just want a cool new hangout spot.

Stafford threw 17 INTs in 2021, which was a lot, but he threw 41 TDs that year. More than a 2 to 1 ratio.
Exactly, it wasnt the 20 turnovers he had, it's what he did when he wasnt turning it over. That makes Stafford special.
Those 2 seasons we amongst Goff's worst, because he also had amongst his lowest td%
Not really understanding the argument here, Goff wasnt it and Stafford most certainly is. If Staff turns it over, its no big deal because we trust he'll make up for it.

His turnovers were back breakers. They always came at the worst time.

I’m rather enjoying it. I let myself forget just how bad Goff was in 2019 and 2020. It’s a reminder of how much better off we are as Rams fans with Stafford. Plus it gives me new hope that the Rams pass rush will bring old Goff back, the next time they play.

I will say if the new Detroit center plays like Blythe - Goff will be in big trouble.

Center is the most important position for Goff imho. When we got rid of Sullivan, it was the beginning of the end for Goff. Allen was better than Blythe before he got hurt in 2019 and Goff was playing well in those games. Then Blythe took over - and sayonara Goff.

His lack of scoring production was a bigger issue. 20 turnovers isnt as big a deal if 30 td are produced. A guy has 600+ pass attempts, he's got to have more than 20 td
Josh Allen leads the league most years in turnovers, but backs it up with TD

I’d say that what caused him to have so many turnovers is also what caused him to not score many points. They go hand in hand.

That's a silly statement. He went from 30 td passes per season to 21 while his turnovers went from 14 per season to 19
TD's down 9, turnovers up 5. Pretty far stretch to assume each of the 5 "increased" turnovers cost a score, even if they did it still leaves a delta of 4 scores.
Again, averaging a turnover a game isnt a killer for a QB, Josh Allen does it every year. Not scoring TD's is a killer and that's why they rightly so moved on
