If Rams double up at a position, which position would you like them to double up on in draft

See, I always thought they drafted multiple CBs every year b/c they were so effin' bad at it...

Wide receiver. Atwell is only signed for this year, we just cut Kupp (TRAITOR!), Adams is signed for only two years, and Nacua and Whittington have both had injury issues.

One could make a case for cornerback, linebacker, or tight end, but I think wide receiver is a bigger need than one would think.

I can see two CB and a safety drafted.

For a total of 3 from position group DB.

Did I just win the Internet again?

I see a lot of people say CB for obvious reasons but after thinking about it I think we could surprise a lot of people and go most if not all of the draft without taking one.

Reason one is that we already have more players there than any other position with 10. Reason two is that I think the coaching staff has a lot more faith in those guys than the fans do. I think they view Witherspoon and Williams as legitimate veteran starters, Cobie Durant as a young promising starter level talent who hasn't put together a full season yet, Forbes as your developmental former first round talent they took a chance on akin to an early round draft pick this year, and Kendrick as a legitimate 4/5 CB they feel they can rely on even if he has been a thorn in the fans' side since the moment he was drafted.

The obvious missing piece is that stud shutdown CB but I think the plan is to offset that missing piece with the amount of zone coverage we play.

As for the position I think we will double up I'll say WR because McVay needs them to operate a high level offense, Tutu is on a one year deal, Davante is at an age and has the type of contract where he's probably only here for a year, and Whittington is going to play more of a Skowronek position because he's a tough SOB but doesn't seem like a natural wideout. And in 2026 that leaves us with just Puka.

If we trade around as much as I expect I think we end up with an extra day 2 pick where we go Higgins/Bech/Noel and then a day 3 pick like Teslaa or Chimire Dike.

I could also be completely off base here lol.

I mean, your argument would certainly be the reason they don't go CB for sure but - and this isn't a judgement on you - I think it's pretty weak.

Witherspoon is an inconsistent veteran, Williams may be moved on from by next season and needs to bounce back some. A B+ to A+ player is needed at CB this year and definitely next year and neither of those guys are one nor are any of the depth guys you mentioned.
Hard time thinking they're not gonna take a swing there but also, maybe they don't go there depending on how the draft falls.

Hard to see them not coming away with at least one WR or TE.

Pretty good chance they come away with both.

I'm almost thinking o-line just to make sure McVay and Snead dont have a brainfuck and resign Noteboom to be our primary backup.

I don't disagree. I've been trying to get in the McSnead mindset to predict how the draft goes and I just don't think they value the CB position enough to grab one early this year and then I don't know if there's strong value/schematic fits late day 2.

I've been very wrong before though.
 
The boring stuff, oline, cb, best player after that.

Think of the draft like a choose your own adventure. Every move that's made before them and every move they make changes what happens next.

To get into McSnead's mindset is to probably recognize that there's 5-6 plans they want to execute with different hierarchies.

IMO we definitely wouldn't double up on CB. I think it's likely a CB is drafted on day one or two - but can't see us taking two.

There are a lot of bodies at CB already - room for a #1 CB, not room for anything after that.

We WILL draft two WRs.....that is a lock.

I didn't say WR cause I think Rams could double up at pass catcher with a WR and TE. I would be a little surprised if we come out with two WRs vs one WR and one TE especially with the depth at TE in this class and a fat WR group on day two but so-so before and after.
 
I can 100% guarantee it will not be QB. I 1st thought CB for sure. Then after looking at the current roster WR does seem the more likely choice.
