Hopefully he sticks around and continues to develop for a few years. Last time someone got promoted too early and left to coach (Staley) it was a disaster

That's what I'd do...but I can see why people take head coaching opportunities early. There are only thirty-two of those spots available at one time, and when you're a candidate, you never know if it'll be available again. You never know what'll happen next year.

I love that at some point in his rush, he’ll just put the OL on roller skates and push him back and disrupt the pocket

Verse's reputation is going to start preceding him and that's going to make offensive linemen very nervous and help him bigly.

It looks to me like Jared Verse has one thing on his mind, breaking the rookie record for sacks, tackles for loss and quarterback pressures.

I am pretty shocked he is this effective. It was clear in college his physical strength was his best attribute which undercut a lot of his game, not strictly his bull rush. I was not sure how it would translate to the NFL level. I did think he would be good, but not great, as a result. To my surprise, he seems able to absolutely bully pretty much every NFL offensive lineman he comes across. The dude is a monster! Good thing he is on our side. Curious how his career develops. His type of game seems higher risk to fall off faster when age starts to hit, or injuries pile up, but we're several years away from that yet - knock on wood re: the injury part.

I've noticed his run defence improving a lot lately, he is in on way more tackles now as compared to earlier in the year, count me as totally wrong on Verse, I also was not optimistic he would clean up the missed tackles, but he is improving there as well, we might well have hit the jackpot.

Yeah it's no joke what he's doing. Just keep on track young feller.

Why were you not optimistic about improving on missed tackles?

He didn't come from a small school. FSU is a huge program. I figured, wrapping up, and taking good tackling angles, is so fundamental and coached from day 1 - or at least it was for me even at way lower level of football - if he had not learned to do it yet after high school and years of elite college program coaching, and several weeks into the NFL season after mini camp and OTAs... he was not going to improve at it by that point. What you see is what you get by that point, on those particular issues. But he's proven me wrong!

Maybe it was just because he (and Fiske) were trying too hard to make an early impact & ignoring the fundamentals, just trying to crash through the gates & leaving the back doors open. But in the NFL, folks pay a little more attention to all aspects of your game.
I do think the message got home though, because after a few early interviews (with awkward "when do you think you'll convert pressures to sacks" questions) they have settled in very, very nicely.

Also there is less space in the backfield for the QB to maneuver. Lets hope that continues cause Hurst and Murry are no joke. Kinda thinking about it, Tua made them miss once or twice and it killed us.
