It's not a popular game plan, but hear me out.

- The Bucs are elite against the run.

- But have given up over 4k passing yards and 26 passing TDs

-Wanna tee off on Tommy boy and that injured line? Score early, fast, and often.

-Then unleash Sony and Cam.

Simple stupid win.

If we had an OL who could sustain vs a front like Tampa's I would agree. But our OL is good not great in pass pro which is why every time we let an opponent pin their ears back we get our asses handed to us.

But of course if McVay can stick with a good carry total on the ground it's unlikely any of these remaining teams can get us in that situation. 9ers just did and did it to us twice this year but the Rams are still improving and I think the next game if there is one the 9ers are gonna get challenged more on the ground on both sides.

I may end up regretting the letting myself get this high over that wildcard win. I mean there is a counter way of looking at the loss to SF and us beating a downtrodden Cards team, where things could look like we're in for a disappointing loss. But no team has grown more than the Rams over the past six games. And that win vs the Cards felt dominant and it makes me think this Rams team is growing into something here.

being that we rushed for 37 yards last year in a win and 74 this year and win...

id expect to see a lot of passing.

Agree completely. Passing attack is how we will win this game. Then we can start to run once we have the lead. Their secondary is fairly weak, we just need to protect against their front 7 in the pass rush which is elite.

Stafford shredded them week 3 with the pass, and Goff did the same last year in the 1st half. That should be the game plan, pass the ball to set up the run. Get Akers in space with the ball in his hands in the pass game too.

100% agree. We have the play caller, the talent and the history that shows we can beat this team in the air. The below link shows we were the #1 Oline in pass pro.

With Whitworth out we have to keep a watch on Noteboom and how he can hold up, but running vs their front will get us no where.

Also Murphy-bunting isnt 100% so they are very suspect back there.

Fuck that. Pound the ball with Michel and Akers.

Not a crazy idea this week I agree. I think Cam will be used early and often in the passing game this week. Time to unleash McVay's real offense he planned to have this year.
I agree. Dump offs, screens, wheel routes etc.

Use Cam in the pass game.

Rememeber when we did that with Gurley? Crossing routes in the red zone and skinny posts for TD’s?

Not quite so fast.

Over the season, the Bucs are giving up 4.3 yards/attempt. However, I looked up their recent stats, and

- against the Jets, they gave up 5.8 yards/attempt
- against the Panthers in the season finale, they gave up 4.2 yards/attempt
- against the Eagles in the playoffs last week, they gave up 5.6 yards/attempt

(source: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/tam/2021/gamelog/)

Those teams are not exactly offensive juggernauts, and none of them are anywhere near as offensively potent as the Rams. So don't be so sure we can't run against them. If the Eagles could get 5.6 a pop last week, and the Jet (the Jets!) could get 5.8 two weeks prior, I think we can definitely do enough on the ground to help move the chains and keep the Bucs D honest.

We don’t have Jalen Hurts at QB. We have Stafford. Play to our strengths. The run will be tried but if it doesn’t yeild results I expect Mcvay to quickly implement the passing game.

Agreed, in an ideal world you try to run but look at our last two games vs Tampa and how our pass first approach worked.

Fair enough. I still think we need to get the run game going, and given the Bucs recent weakness against it, this is the time. Doesn't mean we have to be Ground Chuck, but if we can establish that we can run on them, it will open up the playbook and take pressure off of Stafford.

Or, short version, the Bucs are fucked if we can run the ball.

We need to control TOP. The less offensive possessions they have, the less chances Brady has to get in a rhythm and bite us in the ass.

Use the pass to extend drives and score, but do not give the ball back quickly.

Being realistic, the Bucs front should dominate our OL. Should have happened the last two games.

I think it would be smart for McVay to have two plans - one to adapt to if they push us back like the Niners did. It's possible.

Given that the Bucs are down at WR and OL, we would be relying on our defense.

If it plays out that way, I'd expect us to run a lot, even if it only gains a yard at a time. We will need our offense to not lose us the game and have Stafford make a few plays.

If our OL protects well....good luck Tampa.

Those teams strengths are running. They are doo doo at QB and WR at varying levels.

I'm not saying don't run in the first half, but only to expose their back end (hehehehe) early.

The quickest way to the endzone is in the air, which is their weakness. Doing that will make Tommy have to pass more = Rams strength on D. Keep Tommy's ass on the sideline in the second half and watch him pout.
