In my opinion they could be the third best team in the NFCW let alone the best in the NFC. Their CB position is very depleted behind Sherman. They will struggle in the trenches on both sides of the ball and the Packers were one botched recovery away from easily beating them. It's just annoying their stock will fall once the season starts but they'll still be the talk of the NFC. Everybody should be talking about the Packers right now because they are the team to beat in the NFC. Can't wait to see them collapse. Wilson isnt the only one unhappy with his contract. Hopefully that will lead to the collapse, but it's gonna happen regardless.

I get tired of it as well, but until they get knocked off the perch, they still are the NFC team to beat...I would love to see it happen, (and it might) but I can't call them the 3rd best team in the divison at this point...

Yeah, I'm not sold on the Cards's QB depth now that you bring it up. :sneaky:

The window will be closing soon. Just don't know if its this year. They gotta pay Wilson and Wagner. They extended some of their players the last couple years, but eventually they won't have enough for everyone. Unless they keep certain core guys and go with lower tier guys for the rest. Either way it ain't gonna be easy to maintain the level they've been at the past few years.

They just won a SB and should have won them back to back.

I get the intra division rivalry stuff, but they deserve every bit of the love they get. Its the Rams job to knock them off the mountain, until then they should be considered top dogs of the division and the NFC.

Pretty much this ^^

That's how I feel as well. They've been to 2 Super Bowls in a row and deserve all the praise and talk to go along with it. With that being said I can't wait to whoop their asses week 1 so everyone stands up and takes notice from the get go. We know we can beat them at home and if we do that really does open Pandora's box to what we can do for the rest of the season not to mention the playoffs just from the confidence standpoint.

I've always been a firm believer in: To be the Champ you got to beat the Champ.

Time to go to work...

Hey, hey hey! Don't go getting all rational on us!

I wish I could share your optimism. They aren't losing at home, and all they need to do get home field again is go 4-4 on the road.

The Cardinals are garbage and have overachieved the past two years....the Niners, nobody really knows what they have but they are certainly worse than the Seahawks.

AND to top that off, if Gurley was ready to go week 1, we would likely be starting 4 new offensive lineman, a new QB, and a new RB. I love the enthusiasm and hope we can possibly beat Seattle in week 1, but with at least 5 new starters on offense, I don't see it.

We have matched up well with Seattle the last few years(when they got good, and when our DLine got good).
We've rolled out a ton of backup QB play the last couple years and have still been able to compete with Seattle, AZ and SF.
The NFC West competition is tough sure, but the Rams need to become far more consistent OUTSIDE of the division.

I'm not worried about the Cards as much as I am the Seahawks. The Seahawks start off with two road games at STL and GB. If they start off 0-2 that really helps our chances.

We always play them tough at home and have beat them at home I think 3 of the 4 last years?

* 3 new offensive linemen
And that number might be down to two since Center might not be that unfamiliar of a starter. Either way here is the facts:

1. The 3 new offensive linemen only have to be average to give us an advantage compared to having Wells, Davin Joseph, and Barksdale getting demolished time and again.

2. We don't have the turn over machine Davis or inept Hill starting for us we have Foles. I seriously couldn't see how anybody could take the previous two over Foles. Foles might not be Peyton Manning but I'd bet he damn sure will be our best QB since Marc Bulger run he'll be running a QB friendly run heavy offense with play actions and opportunities for deep balls which is his strength.

3. I seriously doubt Gurley will start week 1. I bet it'll be about week 4 he'll be put to work. Good thing we have a Tre Mason.

I hear you, but it doesn't mean anything, if we Win out side the Div. and Don't Win our Div.! We Must concentrate on Winning the West 1st! JMHO ( I realize we have to well outside the west too, But 1st things 1st!)

I agree (about beating the champ). Respect is earned. The 1999 Rams earned it and were the darlings of the NFL. I loved that attention.

Just have to take care of business and beat Seattle that first game. I hate to think of the first game as being so important but, to me, it is.

Division game... against what is considered the division (league) favorite.

GREAT chance to earn that respect we all want so badly.

As far as Seattle crumbling... predominant history says they will, evantually. But then I look at New England and how thay've managed to stay at or near the top for so long. I can't stand them, but I have to respect that. And it does give me pause when wondering if Seattle can do the same. They still have that very good GM, don't they?

Anyhow... here's to the Rams winning that first game... gaining some respect... and Seattle following history and crumbling!

Hm I guess it depends on the "love" you mean... If by "love" you mean overrating, I think that's still far and away #1 given to the 49ers more than Seattle. If "love" means treating them like the division favorite, I agree with those that said the Seahawks have earned that designation.

But I also agree with your sense they could crumble any time. There's the simple entropy of the NFL where good teams eventually dissolve into disorder due to injury or change. Seattle has three seasons in a row with double-digit wins, the odds of four in a row are very slim. Also, I think the way they choked that Super Bowl is a lot bigger than people want to admit. I absolutely think that Carroll was trying to make Wilson into the hero instead of Lynch. I think that has to come back to bite them next season both in Super Bowl hangover and in Lynch's already messed up enough head.

Not going to get upset over the media liking a team that's been to back to back Super Bowls, but to each their own.

I've been through a lot of Seasons as a Ram Fan Since 1951. And I really want to see the Rams sweep the division 'ONE more time' before I die, and I Truly believe this is going to happen this season, and be the 1st, in along run of "Winning" seasons for the Rams! Just My Not So Humble Opinion!!
