Holy crap I just read about the typhoon that is going to hit the Philippines it's a Cat 5 right now. It's the strongest storm of the year and is heading right to the island. That's going to be a disaster. .

Wow, I had heard nothing about this with all the Florence talk. Had to go look it up... that is going to down right destroy everything on the north tip of the Phillipines. Scary.

Stay safe all you East/Southeast coast folks. Remember....there's always Arizona where nothing ever happens.

Nothing? Don’t they have those big HABOOBS? Not that I can’t appreciate big haboobs! Lol.

We have a steady breeze and overcast skies now and we're 250 miles west of the eye. Big storm.

Are cell towers lost when power goes out in large events like hurricanes? I assume so?

I ask because I can’t remember ever losing my cell phone connection when the power goes out. But I’ve never been in an extended outage before.

Very good question.

Almost all of them have backup batteries and generators so they can stay in operation. Which is critical in catastrophic weather events.

During Irma I had read that about 16 million people were without power, but almost everyone had cell service. Here in SWFL power was out for days but cell service was fine.

Pretty amazing job they do isn't it..........

During/After Sandy, we didn’t have power for a week. Cell phones worked fine, only when charged. That was the challenge.

Up in Asheville, so...

Mountain vs Hurricane, Lodge.
Mountain always wins.

Take care man.

Thank you. We will and we are safe.

The calm is eerie and amazing at the same time if that makes sense.

We are not in danger of flooding where we are located.

We are on the south side of the storm where it isn't as dangerous as the north side.

Flo just needs to pick her ass up and move faster. Too much flipping rain.

We're in the eyewall now.

A good friend of mine left his house (he had storm shutters) in Naples when the eyewall passed over him. He said it was strange. I wish he would have gotten pictures.
