how's everyone feel about this

I think Jeanty deserved it more

Bullshit that Jeanty didn’t win. You couldn’t legitimately say that Hunter was the best wideout or corner this year.

Publicity sells.

Not surprised tbh.

I thought Jeantry did everything he could but when the #1 national recruit comes out and plays 2 ways and does it well it became tough for Jeantry to overcome the national spotlight that was on Travis.
I wanted AJ but am not outraged at all

I would have given it to the Army QB, that kid is tough as nails and a great college success story

Hunter deserved it playing at a high level at two different positions.

Melvin Gordon didn't win it years ago with similar numbers than Jeanty.

I thought it was very political. Can you picture Jeanty playing for Colorado and Hunter playing for Texas? Who do you think wins in that scenario?

Not sure,

That scenario implies the "Deion effect" which becomes the crux of the issue.
Did Deion's personality supersede the on-field performances?

I agree that Jeanty would have been a well deserved winner of the Heisman. The caveat is was Travis not deserving of the award? I think one could argue that he was less deserving and that has merit but to say he wasn't deserving can be debated.

Travis played both ways at a very high level top 10 of each CB & WR and that is quite an impressive task. The argument that he needed to be a #1 at one or the other to win is specious to me.

I see the award as a tribute to the best overall performance in college football for the given season and both players had strong cases.

It was a tough competition and Deion's presence brought extra national attention to the already high profile #1 overall national prospect entering college and that certainly didn't hurt.

I don't think Jeanty could have done much more and don't think Travis did anything to hurt his position.

I don't think anyone made an egregious error voting for Travis

Was he actually top ten at either position?

I think #7 @ WR REC. 92 · YDS. 1,152 · TD. 14. A semi finalist for the Bednarik award (the nations best defender) he was 12th in interceptions at 4 I believe the 11 above him had 5. He had a forced fumble and a couple recoveries. Many have him as the #1 overall DB coming out so easily top 10 defensively is fair, like many great CB's not seeing a lot of passes your way is the greatest compliment of all

Here are some defensive stats
  • PFF coverage grade: Ranked third among all cornerbacks with a 90.9 grade

  • Passer rating allowed: Ranked ninth among Power Four cornerbacks with a 42.0 rating

  • Interceptions: Tied for fourth most among Power Four cornerbacks with four interceptions

  • Passes defended: Ranked third in Power 4 and eighth in FBS with 15 passes defended

Awards often piss me off. This one's no different, I agree Jeanty should have taken it.
