Speaking of crackback blocks, I had a book called Crackback a long time ago. It was about a fictional high-school character who played football (bought it at a book fair in high school). It was a fun read, and surprisingly mature about a lot of subjects.

But on this subject, I don't care if they're outlawed; Kerby Joseph deserves at least two. The only reason I don't want him injured is because our team shouldn't sink to his level, but I do want him to have one for injuring Higbee and one for this stupid Instagram photo.

In public the Detroit coaching staff is going to support Joseph. In private Campbell and Detroit defensive coaches should be strongly encouraging Joseph to change his tactic. And teaching him a safe but effective alternative. There are 0 legitimate football coaches (youth to NFL) teaching players to purposefully dive and tackle with shoulder to knees. It’s shoulder/chest to chest or wrap around the waist. Stating your a “dog” to justify the kneecap targeting tackling is just plain chicken shit. Shut it down Detroit or NFL.

That’s the one thing about Pete Carroll I really appreciate…that he taught “Head up, wrap up” even during a time when the NFL was celebrating spearing and hitting vs wrapping up.

He taught it, but his players didn’t always listen. Their safeties were always head hunters and dirty as hell.

Could still do it, just is not allowed. Well worth it though if timed properly with game circumstances considered.

Even if they don't teach that, they're stupid not to tell that player to STFU. When your team has never won a super bowl, do you really want to give other teams a reason to take out one of your players or have extra motivation to beat your sorry asses?

Yes he did. Took out his old team mate TJ Hockenson in the same manner he took out Higs. Like you say, Karma is a beyotch and hopefully coming to him.

It would have been a contact with the helmet penalty (unnecessary roughness) had Kraft not dodged him. At no point did Dirty Joseph try and wrap up on the dive at his knees.

It’s infuriating and a simple tweak of the rule book would fix it so players like him are disqualified for non football contact.
