Okay I have to even give it over the great Aaron Donald that Johnny Hekker so far is our season MVP and think the trend will continue to be our MVP for the season and obviously the Pro Bowl. He's worth his contract. What or who do you think is our MVP as of right now and will finish as the best rams players at the end of the season?

Yes Hekker is awesome. Just need another good fake punt out of him.

Fisher might beat him out though cause he's doing an excellent job of trying to get himself fired.

Absolutely. He's our best player and our most important. We seem to actually plan our game around him. Always win field position, play good offense, and slowly creep further up the field as the game goes on until we're close enough to kick it....

Not much fun but...

Johnny: "Everybody knows it! Opponents have to respect my passing game and guard against the not-so-unexpected toss. Returners have to respect my hang time and punting accuracy! I'm the best damn thing out there since Slingin' Sammy Baugh, and it ain't even close!!! Wherever the ProBowl is gonna be played, just hand me my damn ticket now!"

Not much fun but it can get us 4 wins in 9 games.

78 yards!!! Guy is the best in the league.He is a HoF worthy player if he continues his greatness.

The record for the longest punt is 98 yards by Steve O'Neal of the New York Jets. Johnny's 78-yard blast is actually tied for the 46th longest punt in NFL history.

I honestly didn't think there'd be a case for another punter making it into the HoF ever but if Hekker keeps up this type of production for his career he has a chance.

No doubt Hekker is the MVP right now, But :baghead: I hope he's not at the end of the year, because that would mean the Rams Finish Badly!:(
:thinking: For the Season, I think it will be a "Three Horse Race", in no special order:
* Hekker
* Britt
and
* Donald
Lets come back to this thread at the end of the year!!(y);):D

I'm throwing Britt into the hat for consideration. All things considered, he's playing at a very high level.

Well, at least as a close runner up. Or, if they put in Goff, there's still time for him to take the MVP as a dark horse candidate.

Britt and Goff might be sick next season.

Rams’ Johnny Hekker having the greatest punting season ever

Rams punter Johnny Hekker really is having a great season. He’s having perhaps the greatest season of any punter in NFL history.

Net punting average is the single most important stat to use to evaluate a punter, and by that measure Hekker is having the best season ever, and it’s not even close. Hekker is already the only punter in NFL history to finish a season with a net average of over 44 yards, setting the league record for net punting average at 44.2 yards in 2013,.

But this year Hekker isn’t just over 44 yards, he’s over 45 yards: If he stays at his current pace of 45.8 yards, he’ll obliterate his own record.

And Hekker is consistently putting opposing teams in bad field position: He already has 40 punts inside the 20-yard line this season, by far the most in the league and within striking distance of the NFL record of 46. At his current pace, Hekker will finish the season with 53 punts inside the 20-yard line.

Perhaps most amazingly, Hekker is nailing all those punts inside the 20 without kicking any too far: He has just one touchback this season. A ratio of 40 punts inside the 20 to one touchback is preposterous.

This punter is having the best punting season ever.
