i saw during the press conference that Fisher said they were trying to reach Dickerson about Gurley wearing his number. Wasn't sure if it was a joke or not. Just curious.

Dang I really think he should be allowed to have #29

He can have 29 if Dickerson gives him his blessing.

It didn't seem like a joke, because really not many numbers available. 35, 39, and some 40's. I'd imagine he'll take number 30 now that Stacy is gone or 29 if Dickerson ok's it.

Being retired doesn't mean it's gone no matter what. If a player gives his blessing then it's up for grabs. Seeing as Dickerson really likes Gurley...you never know.

I hope Dickerson refuses, he needs to earn his own number to be hallowed.

As a huge UGA and Gurley fan, i agree with this. Come to an organization and you need to respect somebody on the level of Eric Dickerson. I hope Gurley takes a different number unless ED personally reached out to Gurley and says i want you to take #29. Also i loved ED's comments on RBs nowadays about how they dont want to carry the ball too much anymore. Give me a Beast RB and a great defense and i will take that against any Chunk it around finess team everyday of the week.

I'm sure he takes 30.

As more and more #'s get retired as the years go on, isn't it common sense that soon there won't be enough numbers left for the current players?

Well, that's Lawerence McCutcheon's old number... so I hope he reaches out to Larry for approval first. Shouldn't be hard, has he's a team scout.

Hey Stranger, remember that playoff game against the Vikings in the late 70's when McCutcheon was on his way for a TD around the right side, but Alan Page barely got a hand on him (horse collar) and pulled him down!?!?!?!? THAT was horrible. That would have put us into the Super Bowl. I was 9 years old.

We don't comment about Viking and Cowboys playoff games of the 70's around here.

Only numbers available are 28, 30, 35, and 39. 28 and 39 were Faulk and SJ both of which I think he'd be wise to steer clear of. 30 was McCutcheon as Stranger pointed out. So 35 is the only number that is clear as RBs go for the Rams...

Yeah I'm guessing it'll be 30 or 35.

28 and 39 should both be retired. If I'm Gurley I go for 30 because it's kind of the most similar to the 3 he wore in college.

yup, those are some pretty tough memories.

Funny, but true story. About 10 yrs ago my wife and I are having hot fudge sundae's at Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco and I strike up a conversation with the familiy sitting next to us. The dad turns out to be Ed White, famous Guard during the 1970's Vikings teams. I proudly told him I was a lifelong Rams fan and that I hated him and Bud Grant's Vikings, and that my only solace was that they lost 4 SuperBowls.

We had a great time chatting about 1970's football. Very nice guy. He still staying in touch with the Grant familiy. And I believe he said he was now coaching at one of the San Diego universities.
