HENDERSON, Nev. -- Former Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden is suing the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell in the wake of his private emails being leaked amid an investigation into the Washington Football Team.

Gruden's attorney, Adam Hosmer-Henner of McDonald Carano, said in a statement that the lawsuit was filed in the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada.

"The complaint alleges that the defendants selectively leaked Gruden's private correspondence to the Wall Street Journal and New York Times in order to harm Gruden's reputation and force him out of his job," Hosmer-Henner said. "There is no explanation or justification for why Gruden's emails were the only ones made public out of the 650,000 emails collected in the NFL's investigation of the Washington Football Team or for why the emails were held for months before being released in the middle of the Raiders' season."

The lawsuit says the NFL pressured the Raiders to terminate Gruden and "intimated that further documents would become public if Gruden was not fired." According to the suit, Gruden lost a sponsorship deal with Skechers and was pulled from appearing in the Madden NFL 2022 video game, as well as having future employment and endorsement prospects damaged.

Gruden is seeking unspecified damages on seven claims as well as punitive awards and attorneys' fees.

Going the Libel route? He might win. Not too much into law, but maybe someone else who specializes in this could chime in on if he actually has a case or not.

Poor Chucky....

I hope he wins. He was done dirty. So why did they want him out anyway? I thought he was a beloved legendary figure amongst the brass of the NFL.

Not much expertise but I don’t see how he has a case, they were using the team email. Seems like the nfl could do whatever they want with them, he might be right but I don’t know if he has a case.

If others have similar emails or things that are swept under the rug while he was targeted. That's called discrimination. What he did is besides the point. ALL who have broken the woke rules or whatever you wanna call it should have the same punishment as gruden. To single someone out is gonna get the NFL into trouble. It'll come out at this point. If I were gruden I hope he doesn't settle w the NFL. I hope he take them to court and makes it public. Time to cancel the cancelers. Just my opinion anyway

I think he's an insensitive ass and a shit talker. But I don't like the way we act like we're all so fucking perfect nowadays. Ever told an off color joke? Ever cursed out another driver and called them something you don't believe they really are?

So I hope he wins. The way that shit went down and the Redskins with the wife all involved and shit fuck that organization. And I'm not a fan of Chucky either could care less about the dude just tired of the electronic lynch mob.

Probably toxic as an analyst or commentator of any sort at this point.
He should start a podcast with and edge, he garners a lot of attention albeit as a rather polarizing personality. A smart man could monetarize the opportunity.

Hope he wins. And wish he’d go after Goodell personally.

That's how Scientology became a religion.

They kept having issues with the IRS... so they kept suing both the IRS and every senior IRS employee they could find... personally.

It was the personal lawsuits that eventually made them cave.

It'll eventually cave as more than 100x more people celebrate Festivus, the airing of grievances, than participate in Scientology. (that HBO special Going Clear was AMAZING)

So, yeah, the takeaway is that constant personal lawsuits really do work and exert enormous pressure. Not a great way to settle grievances in general, but like this... yeah

You, me, @Loyal , @blackbart , @Mackeyser, and probably a few others are ex-sailors ... yeah, we're all guilty of that shit :laugh2:

I'm not normally a fan of the constant personal results, and while it would be correct to say I hate Goodell, it would be more correct to say I fucking hate Goodell. So I want his ass to be sued until he's a homeless dude who has to blow wino's to get money to buy crack. In other words, I don't like him ...

I’ve never said this before (tho I’ve read it from others before) but that imo deserves 100 thread winners

Bravo Sir
Private conversations should absolutely stay private but if you talk shit on your boss and disparage pretty much everyone else on a company server, you shouldn’t be surprised if they hang you out to dry.
