I've been on the Robinson @ G wagon for a couple of months... I grew tired of the give him time he was a raw talent, et cetera...I'd move him to G and put anybody with a pulse at LT...I'm serious, I don't think it can get too terribly much worse there...

Why didn't we do this last week? I'm fine with playing him over Donnal. Problem is...who is going to play LT next year? Certainly not Saffold.

Why not? He's signed for next year and we don't save all that much by cutting him. Might as well roll with him until we can address this position long term.
We haven't got a lot of options at this point in time. And we have much bigger fish to fry as you have shown in your latest mock.

BTW simply an excellent mock. I really hope we can pull something close to that this off season.

WHAT SAY YE?

We save over $4 million by cutting him.

Why not? Because it's akin to going into the season with Sam Bradford at QB. Actually, a far less effective Sam Bradford at QB. Because Saffold is a mediocre at best LT and always gets injured.

I understand why people might want to do it, but it's just not a good use of our resources imo. If we really want Greg out of the LT spot, we need to go get a legitimate LT.

I agree that we have bigger fish to fry. But the $4 million from Saffold's contact is very helpful for frying those fish. I'd rather go into next season with Robinson at LT than Saffold. Robinson has a ton of faults, but I would at least have hope he could be coached up into a better player, we'd have that $4 million to spend on upgrades on this team, and Robinson wouldn't miss most of the season with injuries (*knock on wood*).

Thank you for the compliment on the mock!

I don't know.
What we do know is that our interior oline has been manhandled all year. Maybe a run blocking mauler like Grob, is better suited inside?
Could It Really Get worse?

He could also be tried for larceny, but this scheme creates reasonable doubt...

Oh...position...got it. Guard.

Never mind.

It's a wonder how so many people were thinking he was doing a great job and now so many want to move him to guard or cut him.

I'm honestly surprised it's taken them this long to try him at guard.

Dudes cap hit is 6.7 mill next year... which is total for his dead money to. seriously don't think we'll cut him this offseason.

Let me ask you this (anyone who wants to answer); if he didn't have the penalty problem, how would you rate his play?

The penalties imply to me he's thinking too much and it's got to be zapping his looseness out there. Maybe guard will help him for at least a period of time. I'm not writing him off as a T just yet.

That said... I am REALLY having a hard time getting past all this premium draft talent struggling on offense; Gurley, Austin, Goff, GRob, Havenstein, Higbee, Quick, etc. Did we really just pick suspect players? Or is the whole offense broke?

I'm leaning the latter.

Whoever comes in as coaches has some work to do on that side of the ball sorting through all this.

He belongs there.

Here's to hoping the new coach can get Battle up to speed. It would be nice to be able to fix our other holes.
I have been saying for a long time that they should put Battle in their!! After all, He was Pancaking some of our D-Lineman in TC!(y);):D

I think it's a combination of a few things. First off their strategy, and this is from Demoff, is to draft raw upside guys with the thought that these top notch coaches will coach them up. It was a failed strategy due in part to not having top notch coaches and the risk of drafting raw players in general. So they drafted busts and they coached poorly. You don't have a horrible side of the ball just due to lack of talent or poor coaching. It's totally both.

What bothers me is the regression after good rookie years. Givens, Richardson, Stacy, Mason, Gurley, Havenstien all looked like good players as rookies and regressed horribly in their second years. That's what bugs me. We can blame the coaches, but a few of those guys have moved on and still aren't any good.

A big change could be ahead for offensive lineman Greg Robinson, the former No. 2 overall pick who has been inactive for two of the past five games. Robinson could move from left tackle to guard.

Fassel indicated a shift would be possible for Robinson, who wasn’t active for Saturday’s loss to San Francisco and has struggled with penalties and ineffective play. The Rams lost right tackle Rob Havenstein to an ankle injury against the 49ers, and Fassel said Havenstein’s status is day to day.

Fassel said the Rams have several options on the offensive line this week. If Havenstein can’t play, Robinson could remain at tackle or the Rams could go with rookie Pace Murphy. Fassel said he “would anticipate (Robinson) being active on game day, and likely playing.”

Robinson has not played a game at guard since he joined the Rams in 2014. Fassel said he would decide on the offensive-line personnel before the Rams return to practice Tuesday afternoon.

When you say, "Pancaking," are saying he was serving them pancakes at breakfast?
