what is everybodys take on the first episode?

Enjoyed it. GOT episodes to me are kinda like Harleys - there is no such thing as a bad one.
Even if you're not a diehard and can't/don't keep up with the never ending cast of characters and plot lines/twists, it's just so well directed and filmed, that it's totally hooked me.
So I guess my answer is I've seen better episodes, but don't care. Love the show.(y)

(PS - don't know if I ever told you, but love your sig line).

Thinking it might be the last time we see the red womans tits LOL
Did she sacrifice her youth to save Jon Snow?

I gotta watch it now, because I haven't really seen any huge spoilers, (didn't really read anything you guys said), but I'm sure the spoilers will be coming fast and furious...

I liked it, finally got to see Brienne run to the rescue and Sansa have a stroke of good luck for once. I am going to enjoy Sansa exacting her revenge by seasons end (just my assumption not a spoiler).

To nit pick about the episode though I did not like the director very much. Just didn't seem like he set up some of the scenes very well. The Brienne fight could have been a little more epic seeming and what happened to the hounds that were so blood thirsty and dangerous? Didn't like the flow and shots of a lot of the various segments. Didn't seem up to GoT standards but like I said I'm just being picky.

I loved the rack on the red woman... until she turned into that 400 year old. I did not need to see that.

And that spear through the back of that guys skull was unexpected and the effects were really good.

The most annoying character is still Daenerys Targaryen. This time we have to watch her conversation with the Dothraki who are speaking gibberish with nonsensical subtitles. WTH?

Oh, and when do we get to see that little weasel Ramsay Bolton finally get his?

I don't find Daenerys annoying at all...she is one of my favorite book characters too.

I'm guessing that they will be making this their own going forward. Different ending and all from whatever route the books go

Except Bran
Agree but was he even in season 5? .
When was the last time we saw him, and where was he left? I cant remember
I was disappointed that Bronn didn't make an appearance but he's pretty much a secondary character

Last we saw Bran he was in the tree of the 3-eyed raven in the final episode of Season 4

They used some very good quality cameras filming this too... I can really see the results.

I dunno. To me, Sansa is like the daughter from Taken. Half the time I want her to be saved and half the time I'm questioning why? I can barely rewatch Taken (I've seen it a few times) because every time I see it, it just annoys me more and more...

Is Sansa stronger? I mean, she's not a brat anymore, but is she worth all the blood spilled for her to survive?

George RR Martin has slaughtered some really awesome "good guys"...but Sansa is still trucking along?

I dunno. When Jon Snow got served, I wasn't sure I was gonna keep watching. Jon Snow gets done and Ramsay Bolton just keeps growing?

The character I'm hanging in there for is the younger Stark daughter, who's blind atm, Arya Stark.

Well, that and it's hard not to want to see the Jerry Springer-esque explosion coming with the Lannisters v the religious peeps... That's gonna be headshaking... I dunno if there's enough popcorn for that episode!!!

I like show Sansa more than I liked book Sansa for some reason. I like the actress and think she's done pretty amazing considering her character has basically been ran through the coals the entire series. You kind of have to get over the fact she helped seal her fathers fate in the first book (season) and realize she was just a bratty teenager like every teenager in the world. I've always figured with as much trauma she's been through and survived it all up to this point that she's destined to end up becoming queen of the North or even sitting on the iron throne itself.

As for Ramsay, I'm expecting him to be dead by season's end. I have nothing to base this off of but I just get this feeling that the writers for this show are going to start letting the "good guy" start winning for a change. There's lots of theories out there about Jon Snow and whether he'll be back but I think the fact they are paying Kit Harrington to be a dead body is evidence enough there is more for him to come. I have hope that we'll see him and Sansa reunited and kicking Bolton ass by season's end. If the white walkers don't screw it up at least. hehe

I dunno... I think the White Walkers may end up functioning as "justice" a bit... do some "cleansing"...

Winter is coming...
