Why? He's 31 years old.
That's not all that old for an offensive lineman, is it? I know most guys are not going to play into their 40s like Whit but still seems to me that many O lineman can have long careers.
What say ye?

It's not young. Alaric Jackson is young and playing well. Why give up a premium pick when we have a young guy providing competent play at a cheap price?

He is 31? I don’t think I realized he was an older prospect. I feel like he is just ending his rookie 5 year deal.

Whitworth was 35 when he signed with us...Bolles would give us instant pro bowl level play and if he could do that for 4-5 years, id say thats worth a top pick.

I do like Alaric Jackson and I think he is a good LT but Bolles is a better LT and would instantly upgrade our oline.

The awesome part about Alaric is he's also a really good RG...Bolles at LT and AJax at RG makes our line very good and would help the team make another SB run.

Whitworth was a special player. He was a better LT than Bolles. He was a leader. And he was an ironman. Garrett Bolles isn't Andrew Whitworth. Resource allocation matters. $20M at LT is $20M we can't spend elsewhere. And we lose at least one premium pick---i.e., a cost-controlled young player. As you said, Alaric Jackson is a good LT. He's young. He's not making much money. I'd rather keep him at LT and hold on to that $20 million and premium pick(s).

I don't exactly disagree...

Imo we've already starved the beast cap wise in terms of the roster. Its full of rookies and ufdas. Time to add weapons and I don't think LT is a position where we should be content with bargain shopping, it's literally makes or breaks our offense. Adding Bolles improves the entire line.

Bolles might not be Whitworth but he is an all pro tackle and has played very well this season so far.

I think AJax is a good LT and sticking with him there is a good option, would just like having Bolles more.

I think Jackson is capable but Bolles is much better. Put Jackson in as a guard and put Bolles as RG. Heck, I might even think of replacing Big Rob with Jackson. Big Rob allows too many pressures by speed rushers.

Depends on the compensation. 2nd or 3rd round pick? For sure.
16 mill for 2024, definitely a workable number.
I'd like to see Jackson take hold of LT, but with his injury history I'd upgrade for a situation like this.

The question isn't if adding Bolles improves the OL. The question is if adding Bolles at the cost of $20M per year and losing at least one premium pick improves the entire team. I don't think it does.

I like Bolles as well he is 31 which isn't that old. He never missed games until last year.

He is 17m on Denver.

I like Trent Brown

Pros - massive 6-8 370lbs. Currently ranked 2nd by PFF. He is 30 and a FA this off-season probably could be had cheap by NE because they are not getting anything for him otherwise. He is 13M to me as good as Bolles and cheaper.

Cons - not 100% always available he has had injuries and hasn't played many years a full season he did last year but that has not been typical. Maybe he has carried too much weight not sure.

I definitely check him & Bolles out whether we pursue or not. The question is Jackson a long term solution? I don't know but I assume Les, Sean and the OL Coordinator knows.

The left side and right side are not interchangeable. Jackson may not be as good on the right as he is on the left. Look at Doctson. Steelers had them on the left and couldn’t wait to dump him. Since we plugged him on the right, it looks like we solidified the guard position.

Bolles is 31 years old making $17.8 M this year and $20 M next year. He is a definite pass. He's on the downside of his playing career and the upside of his salary demands. He's exactly the kind of FA they need to avoid.

This is why it's taking time for Noteboom to adjust. It's why IMO they originally thought about playing him at RG to acclimate him to the rightside and then move him to RT. But his injury issues are getting worse not better. I think they will be drafting a RT or signing one in the off season. When he's healthy Noteboom is very good. But the problem is keeping him healthy. IMO it highlights a problem they may have in their training and conditioning staff. Too many stress injuries IMO.

We Def need someone in that position! Center maybe as well! Carter destroyed our line, and tossed them like they were a peice of paper! Dont get me wrong, Carter is a Beast, but they cant just be thrown and Matty be on the ground in 2secs! I swear at the end of last weeks game, he was having flashbacks to last year. I Dont think Bolles is the anwser with a 20M contract tho! We need to do short term help, to protect Matt, or we gonna have the same issues as last year. If anything we need to do it to keep matt healthy. I dont know if theres an answer with a trade, or signing a FA with 6.1mil Cap. Trade Deadline is in 3 weeks or so!

What makes you so sure he is on the downside of his career.
