Wish you guys had some pics of your 7 Fishes. That does have to be a great time. I'm going to have to do one myself soon.

We ran through 2 bushels of oysters on Christmas Eve. We had some of our friends over in the afternoon... all of us sit around together and eat those babies as fast as I can shuck em. I steam them in their shells on my grill and also serve em raw for those who prefer that. We have a bunch of different things to put on a cracker with your oyster lined up on a table.

2 of my wife's widowed girlfriends spend the night with us on Christmas Eve. They are Italian and they take over my kitchen for well over 24 hours. They are cooking sauce/gravy and whatever all night long. During Christmas day our family members who live here in FL roll in at different times throughout Christmas day, so my wife serves her killer lasagne. She has it where the lasagne is literally available to eat at all times. Our 2 Italian friends fry eggplant at different times throughout the day. Pure gluttony.

I just ate the last piece of leftover lasagne right before I typed this. Late night snacker. Headed back to bed now.

I had never heard of the 7 fishes thing. I guess that makes me some kind of heathen
Definitely going to have to try that. Though I don't think I'll wait for Christmas.

I had oysters, cioppino, clam chowder, and lobster bisque last night. I know...close but no cigar.

My folks didn't partake of this themselves - but growing up in a largely Italo-American neighborhood we did get invited over on Christmas Eve - to put down some seafood!

Nothing beats a breakfast burrito

I know it's late, but my Hanukkah dinner was fantastic. My sister makes the absolute best latkes (basically, potato pancakes fried a certain way in oil. She learned from my mom and grandmother.), my dad made the brisket and grilled the asparagus, and, of course, there was chunky applesauce (not homemade, but I don't care) to have as the sweet side to all of the savory.

Sadly, I don't have pictures but trust me: it's an essential Hanukkah dinner to have latkes and brisket and applesauce.

It's also essential to gamble chocolate coins in dreidel games at our family's house (of course, it's all for fun).

If my English friend has edu-ma-cated me properly... that's a bowl of beans on the far right side correct?
Your friend has done a fine job. Personally, I’m not a fan of beans for breakfast and a good restaurant should always serve them separately or, at the very least, keep them well away from the bacon.

There’s nothing worse than bacon that’s been made soggy by contact with baked beans.

That was a big old bowl of baked beans as well, usually in a ramekin when not on the plate.
