I understand your point, but even if we did run a real offense, Britt and Austin are still below league average starting WRs. Rams have not had above average starting WRs since Holt in 2008, and even then he was in massive decline. The Rams have selected receivers high, but every time they have they have missed and have had a probowl one picked lower in the same round. Avery over Jackson. Quick over Jeffry. Austin over Hopkins.

Personnel doesn't mean anything if the scheme sucks. Scheme over team.

Austin and Britt could be 1,000 yard receivers on a team like New Orleans, no doubt. Just look at what the Saints are doing with Cooks.

Decker and Marshall are a legit WR combo however, Fitzpatrick is a bottom of the barrel QB talent, his line isn't anything to write home about, does he even have a tight end? Yet they are still very productive offensively.

Todd Bowles a defensive coach hired one of the best established offensive minds in the NFL and Fisher is out here promoting the TE coach from his 32nd ranked offense who hasn't called plays in decade and even that was just at substandard college.

I wouldn't have a problem with Fisher if he hired a bonafied OC and left him alone to do his thing like he does with Greg Williams. Alas that would never happen he just keeps promoting internally from a staff that has consistently sucked offensively and handcuffing them with the a predictable and conservative gameplan possible.

TBH I love the combo of Britt & Austin as receivers - stick 'em on a team with an offensive co-ordinator and BOOM... If Cooper and Spruce can also contribute in an Amendola style way - sure hands, feisty and terrier like short-mid range gain guys, coupled with Kendricks & Higbee at TE, I really think we have the core of a good team that can contend - they're not elite guys (Austin could be) but I think they're good enough - I just wish they had a QB, one with promise and potential, one that can throw the ball and manage the game...

I said it at the time, we really needed a FRESH bloodline in the Rams camp when it comes to the OC.

No they couldn't. They aren't starter quality receivers.

We don't need pro bowl receivers we just be adequate. Britt could be just as good as Decker he's not all that. He could be better with better scheme and QB play.. Look at Panthers last season they had adequate play from wr and did real good

Britt had been in the league since 2008? At this point he is what he is.

Decker is a legitimate WR. Has put up 1,000 yard seasons on multiple occasions.

The Panthers have Newton, the Rams don't.

I think u have to look at the scheme because no receiver that Fishers had since 04 has cracked 1000. As long as Fisher here I think that's the case. Until they make a effort to go down field more often want happen no matter what receivers u bring

Would you agree it's a little difficult for a receiver to gain 1000 yards per season when the Team your on is passing to a minimum of 6 receiver's per game!?!o_O

Why couldn't he have been a Ram for the last 10 years????
Fitz played some seriously awful football for many years with the Rams, Cincinatti and Buffalo
Wasn't until Chan Gailey showed up that his game did too.
Would you be willing to wait for 5 more years of Case Keenum?

What are nbb u trying to say?
It was a question! Was I not clear enough!? And I think that it's difficult for a receiver to get 1000 yards a season when so many passes are being spread around to other Targets!
{ And what is this code you speak mean .." What are nbb u trying to say?":confused:}

Austin hasn't even gotten 500 yards receiving. Britt hasn't gotten to 800 yards. So maybe it would be possible for Britt to get there, but it's a large leap of faith to think Austin would in a different scheme.

I think Austin absolutely could in the right scheme.

That's probably exactly what they're going to do to start him off. Similar to how Shurmur started Bradford off. Get them comfortable, into a rhythm, ball out of the hands quickly, and then gradually feed them the occasional deep shot and flood the intermediate zones.

Yep. Three downs at time, then come to the bench and rest for a while ...

Ditto that. Fisher is not one to change his stripes.....no matter how outdated those pinstripes are. This really does smack of 1998. The Rams absolutely NEED to get a real OC in the house....like yesterday. Haven't we suffered enough after 5 years of Schotty, Cigs and Boras??? Fisher loads up on well known defensive coaches, but leaves the offense in the hands of these guys?? Who the hell even knew who Cigs and Boras were?? Not me. I am not saying the lesser known guys don't deserve a chance....but did these guys really earn it?

Wherever the line is between sticking to your guns for good reason and just flat out being inflexible, Fisher has definitely crossed it on the offensive side of the ball.

If I were Stan, I would predicate any extension on going out and getting some real offensive coaches, guys with a proven track record, to come in and take over this offense and the development of Goff. I just have no confidence that the guys we have now are the right guys for that job. I'm not sure how Bradford's career would have went sans the knee injuries, with better WR's, and so on, but I think it's safe to say that he never had the right coaches to develop him to his full potential while he was a Ram.

You beat me to the punch, but are more optimistic.

I hate this busted ass scheme so much...

I'd rather the Rams ran the triple option than this mess...

How do you figure? He has very little route tree outside of quick hitters and a few deep routes. With his skills he should make a killing in the slot. He should be Welker with 4.2 speed. In all reality all he has been is Dante Hall. Nice player, but not a quality receiver.

They are both rookies that weren't top 3 round guys. Not to say they can't or won't do anything, but as rookies counting on them to be consistent difference makers isn't prudent. Amendola was the last guy that gave them consistent production while on the field. His problem was he was consistently hurt too.

Not sure that expecting 3-5 possession catches between them per game is expecting too much. I think that is reasonable.
