I agree that sometimes there is bad luck and ticky tack calls. I still dont know what Donald did in the SF game before brushing up against the official.

And dont get me wrong, Im not saying cut players or bench them. All I want is Fisher to have a feel for the game. Sometimes a players needs to be pulled for a snap or series to get his head on straight and be reminded of the way things are supposed to be done. Its an emotional game and they are human. That Gurley play really stood out for me as an example, not to keep rehashing it lol.

I hope you are right on your last paragraph!

He did this ....

I love AD - but that was just a temper tantrum.

in defense of AO the PF call on him against Winston was a bogus call. It was shoulder to shoulder and he wasnt even down yet, at least he wasnt officially down since he was laying on top of 2 players.

;) Hate to agree with you on this point, but I do. When the play happened I told my son( and everyone in the neighborhood:)) that it was a stupid play by AO. You absolutely have to err on the side of caution anymore in regards to the QB. Some fucked up rules we have, IMO, but they are rules that the officials will enforce vigorously.

Gotta disagree. Winston was atop players and still moving forward. How many times have we seen players roll over other players, get up and keep going? It happens all the time. That was a bad call. I also am plain sick of the last second dives QBs - especially running QBs like Wussell - get away with. The rule is that if the defender has already made his move toward the QB when he dives, it is no penalty. I watched that play again night before last and there was no way that Tree could stop his momentum. Is he supposed to count on Wilson diving at a certain spot merely due to his presence? If a QB runs, he should be and is supposed to be treated like a runner.

The smart play there was to go try and dislodge the ball. That's less likely to draw a flag and maybe create a fumble. But, it shouldn't have drawn a flag since he wasn't down. If the whistle hasn't blown, players have to assume the play is still live because it is!

True, true. Frustrating that there are so many plays like this where it's pretty much a no-win situation if you are a defender. Gawd it's hard to play defense anymore!!!

Penalties have been a huge issue since Fisher has been here. Maybe he needs to stop addressing it and do something about it. The message is not getting through to this players. He must do a better job of coaching in this area. Im not bashing him here but he needs to fix this problem and based on history this is on him.
Many of those penalties are called because the refs suck. But when the d-line lines up offside, that kills me.

I find myself yelling at the TV all the time about that one. Back up a foot you big dummy!!!!

I think it is his lax coaching style. If I threaten the kids don't take it seriously. If I punish they wise up pretty fast. Being a players coach is too much like being their pal. You never expect that your pal will ever get really mad at you.
I think it has more to do with how many $100 bills are given to the refs prior to the start of the game.

Seriously though, this sport is "for entertainment purposes only," the refs and league are not bound by any rules, they can do as they please with no legal recourse from those watching, so watch at your own peril.

Yep, even Troy Aikman pointed that BS call out and said the same thing that you are. Refs suck, take away there whistles, that'll show em.

If anyone should have been penalized it is the ref for NOT blowing the whistle. Nowhere does it say that a defender must determine if forward progress was stopped. And how many times have I seen a Rams QB take a shot to the head and it went uncalled while he was in the pocket attempting a pass, I"ll tell you, way too many times for me to count and trust me, I can count. It's one of my better abilities.

Disagree. Guys like Saban and Belichick don't put up with players screw ups. The team can't police itself, like you said, they are young. They need discipline. There are coaches, whose teams don't have many penalties, even in college and those teams are younger than the Rams. The pre-snap stuff stopped last year when Boras took over. Whatever brought that around has to happen again. I really wouldn't mind seeing a little yelling on the sideline when someone screws up, or make the entire unit pay for each players mistakes in practice. It needs to be fresh in these guys minds.

I have ways believed the old adage that says, ' you play like you practice '. In this case they must tolerate a lot of sloppy stuff in practice.
Billicheat doesn't have a team that gets flagged for a late hit out of bounds breaking Issac Bruce's ribs on the side lines during a Super Bowl, nor do they get flagged for a lot of other BS. If you believe that refs are impartial and that they call penalties consistently when seen, then I have some ocean front property for you in Arizona. I literally saw a db jump on the back of Isaac Bruce twice in a single game, neither of those were called or shown on tv, to me that should be called. Bruce wasn't there to give piggy back rides to defensive backs. I could write a book about the BS no calls concerning Bruce and the BS calls made against him by refs. They suck!

Actually there is plenty of ambiguity built into note 1 itself. That is by allowing individual refs to determine what they think is dangerous. But if the league is calling these on everyone the same, then it is what it is.
Thanks for posting the rule. Would you send a copy to Tree for me and tell him "for now on that it is two hand touch above the waist for him."

Depends on the team and QB. Cam is taking a beating this year.

Sometimes deserved or not, I'm just sick to death of "we cover it all the time" bullshit...Seems they might as well use there time for some other topics...This has been forever and it seems pretty obvious to me that it's a lost cause...They just have to win in spite of it apparently...
