These athletes that feel a sense of entitlement make me sick. They have been put on a pedestal all their life's and been treated like kings since they were in high school. I know they have been dedicated and worked hard at their craft because that is what it takes to be at the top. Give me a break over a contract you signed for over 3 million is not enough. I was a competitive powerlifter for 26 years set multiple records, suffered numerous injuries and never got paid a penny. I would still be competing if multiple injuries and father time had not caught up with me. Many of us have worked all our lives and not made 3 million dollars. I say play out your contract and then get paid or leave for more money. I'm sick of these guys acting like spoiled children, do they not realize that they are living the dream!

Jones has put himself in a position to get a good raise because he works hard and is dedicated and is, by all accounts, a real leader.
We haven't seen him make one public statement about wanting a trade... other than tweeting that he didn't ask to be traded. He isn't holding out.

Why are people so angry at others who work hard, do the right thing, and are trying to do better for themselves? Again.. he's not holding out or publicly complaining and there's been zero reporting of him complaining in private.

No reason to overreact to standard NFL contract stuff.

I don't know how standard it is.

Many extensions have been done in the McVay era and I don't recall the others where they talked about trading a player they were serious about resigning.

If I had to guess Jones' agent and the Rams FO had two different ideas of what he's worth (but are open to see what others think before coming back to the table). The agent doing what he's paid to do is asking top dollar and the Rams are looking for something manageable.

1. Rams gave his agent permission to hopefully get contract numbers from other teams to see where the value falls from others outside the house.

2. This will help both sides negotiate to a mutually beneficial contract.

3. Obviously the Rams are open to keeping Jones but just like the Coleman Shelton you think your client deserves the moon and want to play hard ball? Guy signed a 1 year deal with the Bears. Not to smart on his agents part.

4. This is classic negotiations, anybody is worked in serious sales before knows this. Usually the first 2-3 are BS back and forths to feel each other out.

Not worried one bit.


My problem is when players take off a team off their social media which is such a idiot immature way for negotiating. Haven't seen any of our players do that yet and I'd like to say our culture as played into those shenanigan's not happening here so far.

Not understanding the angst here, the guy is in his final year and is looking for long term contract. That's what you want right? Isnt that better than the guy who doesnt want to extend, because he wants to wait for free agency?

I don't blame him for wanting a contract. But he probably has a poor idea of his value. Rams likely have this right.

Also I think signing him, if they do that, will probably be a mistake. Unless they keep it quite cheap.

Speights might not be the answer, but they won a title with Reeder at ILB. Only ILB that is worth paying is a sideline to sideline stud type.

So if they can get value for him then I think that is the way to go. On the other hand if he signs for a fair value that is fine too, but he still may end up replaced by Speights down the road and his knee concerns me.

At this stage in the game, it actually works against Ernest Jones because so many teams are out of the bidding. Teams cap room is limited and rosters are pretty much set for starting players. He’d likely get more as a free agent at the end of the year. Great agent.

If he had the character that you speak of, he would play out his agreed contract and not try to hold the team for ransom before the season stars. This was a bitch ass move on his part and just goes to show it is all about the money for him and his MFing agent.

And who does that? Bitter players who get franchise tagged? Players who sign elsewhere and are considered traitors?
Kupp, Stafford, AD etc, all sign new deals long before completing the current one
