Its sounding like a late rd run on DT, so either we love a Lindstrom or Risner or another OL or we simply trade back a few spots. I for one hope Jags give us a call to move back into Rd1

still not getting my hopes up too high that he'll be there. If he is..I mean obviously you take him...he's exactly what we need...could probably come right in and start....

if he's not there...I think we should trade back and get an extra pick

Lawrence is on that list of players whose selection would make me very happy. Might not be glamorous, but that dude would give our line a NT who is hard to move but also can push the pocket on occasion. I think he's going to be a fine pro.

I do like Lawrence. But like the OP, I'm thinking he might not be there. We need edge and a big bodied run stuffer at DT. Can't have both. So I'd trade back a bit and grab the best edge rusher available. If they have some offers on the table to trade down maybe they should wait till its their turn and make the deal if the guy they covet isn't there.

I'm with you guys. If DL is there at #31 I think we stay & nab him for our DL. A DL on our DL. LOL.

It'd be instructive to see just how much impact that Vita Vea had on Tampa's DL. Last season, 2018 they gave up 123.9 rush yds/game, 24th (we were 23rd, smh). in 2017, they gave up 117.5 rush yds/game, 23rd (we were 28th). Tampa's rush defense actually got poorer after drafting Vita. That's not to say that Tampa & Rams are apples-to-apples in comparison; Vita might have had a bigger impact on our DL than on Tampa's.

But I'd roll with Lawrence if he's there -- perfect NT for Wade; can rush, shed blocks, clog lanes, etc.

Lawrence is a 2 down player. Have to draft a 3 down player at 31, 2 down players can be found later.

Did Lawrence have a pre-draft visit with the Rams? I don't see his name of the list at any of the sites that list the visits.I don't see the Rams drafting someone in the first round without an official visit.

How many signed Ram DL'ers are over 310 pounds? Zero.

Joseph-Day 310
Brockers 305
Smart 290
Franklin-Myers 288
Fox 275
Donald 270 to 275 maybe?

Rams run defense gave up 5.1 yds in 2018 that average figure placed our defense in the last place. No other NFL team was as bad.

Yep. And this is why with the DL you have to consider where guys project to play too. There are a lot of 3T types in the early going, guys who project best there. Doesn't mean the Rams wouldn't take one of those guys if they fall, or that that none of them would help us on the nose or upgrade us at 5T, but Lawrence is a much better fit for what we need as in spite of his largesse and ability to anchor in and be difficult to move he can still push the pocket and will do exactly that next to AD in a one gap scheme.

If they go get another 3T and stick him on the nose, though, they'll get penetration sure, but vs some OL they're going to be washed out and have big holes continue to plague them in the run game. AD is a freak but size does matter in terms of how much energy you have to put out to overcome the weight differential.

The Rams D too often hasn't been good enough on those 2 downs. I'm taking Lawrence if he's there.
