Three of the top five offenses got first round byes and are still alive. Zero of the top five defenses are still alive. Yesterday was like watching paint dry for most of the day. The Ravens offense was unwatchable and the Bears wasn't much better. I like our chances going forward with our offense. Hoping our defense can keep playing better like they have in recent weeks.

Yea i was thinking the exact thing yesterday.

Defenses went home is what happened.

The Bears and Ravens at home couldn’t muster offense to stay in the tournament.

And Andrew luck took the Texans to the shed.

Seattle and Cowboys were a wash.

Not only the top 4 offenses got byes, but arguably the games top QB’s. Goff, Mahomes, and the old dudes, Brees and Brady.

I quite enjoyed the Bears game.
I think it is the old cliche of defence wins championships.
It may be why a lot of us here were wary of the Bears.
There has been/is doubt about our own defence.
There is a lot of talk about the Dallas D as well.

I think it has been proven that this is not the case, at least for this season.

Smart tactics and gutsy determination on both sides of the ball.
As well as a fired up offence lifts the trophy this year.
I think we fit the criteria.

Well I think that has more to do with inept offenses . The defenses did plenty enough to win. Not to mention that there hasn't been a high scoring affair yet in these playoffs, so I'd say defense was King in round 1

The old standby "defenses win championships" was true for a long, long time.
Back when defenses were allowed to play defense. Now a defense would have a hard time physically imposing its will on an offense.
The Ravens may well have won if Harbaby replaced Jackson.....who at this point is a terrible QB.

I disagree the Ravens wouldn’t have even made it to the play offs without Jackson starting if Jackson is the future of the franchise then he needs to play in the playoffs at only 21 he is the youngest qb to ever start a playoff game that experience is invaluable

The only worry about our offense, is that refs seems to let CB's and LB's get grabby with our WR's, interrupting rhythm and disrupting routes. Reynolds has been doing better than I thought he could this year, and we need him to be physical. The Rams need to punch Dallas in the face.

I think the obvious thing here is that when you say "defenses win championships" the obvious assumption is your offense isn't inept. Offenses have to at least be able to capitalize on short fields and score timely points. They just don't have to carry things, and in the playoffs that's why defenses are so important: a great defense gives your QB and offense more room for error.

The problem is he is not a good QB. He is an outstanding athlete that plays QB. If the Ravens get down by a lot, they are finished. Their defense is going to have to be a top defense every year for them to make the playoffs. If the Steelers did not absolutely collapse, they would not have even made the playoffs this year.

Exactly . Defense rarely win championships in the technical sense . But you'll have a better chance being well balanced as opposed to shooting it out every week

He is definitely a better athlete then QB Right now but that’s what coaching is there for he has a terrific arm and his accuracy isn’t all that bad either it’s really the mental part but that comes with playing the game and getting put into situations you can’t learn from being on the bench.

Maybe maybe not in terms of the playoffs, NK way to know.
He may be the future of the franchise....which is why I said right now.....but he is not a good passer, as of now.
Not accurate, misses open receivers etc.
He can occasionally have very good touch but it's hit and miss.
Where he is now is no reflection of where he may end up.
Time will tell but he has a long way to go.

It has always been a lame saying. With just offence or defense you lose.

That’s exactly why to me he finish the game off. He’s a rookie you gotta take the lumps and what confidence would he have next year if they would have benched him. Tbh the Ravens got more out of him then they were even expecting this year.

To me defense still wins championships

Most playoff games come down to making that crucial stop or defensive play .

Confidence is a misnomer for the most part.
Who knows what happens best year?
To me you have to try and win playoffs games once you make the playoffs.
Where does Flacco end up?
Denver probably.

The irony behind this is that our defense has been our "closer" under the McVay era despite our offense being statistically better

These days in the NFL, if I was building a team, I would through everything at offense. Top money and draft picks all to the offense, and then scrape up some dudes here and there for defense.

I'll take the shootout! My machine gun offense will win it everytime! This is NFL today. Offense > Defense!
