Davante Adams, Puka Nacua both ranked outside top 10 WRs by NFL coaches and executives

How low were the Rams' wide receivers ranked on this list?

As a tandem, there’s no question Puka Nacua and Davante Adams are among the top wide receiver duos in the NFL. But individually, coaches, executives and scouts don’t see either player as being one of the 10 best at their position.
ESPN polled talent evaluators from around the league on the top 10 wide receivers and neither Nacua nor Adams made the cut. They both ended up being honorable mentions in a group that includes four other receivers, but they fell short of the coveted top 10.

There’s a case to be made for both of them being ranked much higher but for whatever reason, they were snubbed.
One NFL defensive coach was shocked Nacua didn’t make the top 10, while an AFC executive said he “probably doesn’t have the high-end ability as some of the others on the list.”

"I can't believe he's not in the top 10. He's just got the 'it' factor." -- NFL defensive coach

If ESPN put the honorable mentions in order by the number of votes players received, that would make Nacua the 12th-best receiver and Adams the 16th-best – both of which are probably too low.

Here is the full top 10 from ESPN's poll.
  1. Ja'Marr Chase
  2. Justin Jefferson
  3. Tyreek Hill
  4. CeeDee Lamb
  5. A.J. Brown
  6. Amon-Ra St. Brown
  7. Malik Nabers
  8. Nico Collins
  9. Mike Evans
  10. Garrett Wilson
One NFL coordinator had this to say about Adams, who was ranked No. 5 just last season in this same poll: “When you watch him up close, he's still exactly what the classic 'X' receiver should look like."

Since the 2020 season, Adams has caught 59 touchdown passes, the most of any player in the NFL in that span. Since Nacua came into the league in 2023, he’s averaged 88.4 receiving yards per game, which is the fourth-highest of any player.
Adams has the ninth-most catches since 2023 and Nacua has the 10th-most – and that’s despite both of them playing fewer games than the only eight players with more receptions in the last two years.

After this season, it’s possible Adams and Nacua will both vault into the top 10, assuming they’re able to stay healthy and reach the high expectations everyone has for them as teammates. Big things could be

Puka missed 5 games last year and still had 79-990. He doesn't get many TDs but that's not a knock on Puka, it's a compliment to Kyren. Had he played 17 games last year he was on pace for 122-1530. Adams led the NFL in TDs in 2022 (with the freaking Raiders) and 2020. He's averaged 105 receptions the last 5 years. They may not be top 10 individually.......I'd argue they are though I don't know who I'd remove from that list, but together they have to be in the top 3 for duos. We'll see. I don't care where they rank as long as they are considered the top 2 receivers in the Superbowl this season.

Yeah, I agree with this.

Hell, opposing teams shouldn't even bother putting a DB on either of these guys in coverage, just let them run free. Hell, it's not like Stafford will be looking to them or they would catch it if thrown their way. Just focus on the other 9 offensive players.

Puka missed games and Davante is in bounce back mode. List doesn't really surprised me though I think Hill is a bit over rated and there's some young guy projection on the list.

I think if they skipped Devante Adams it's because they know he's getting a little long in the tooth and they're always looking at the young guys breaking out when you're talking about an upcoming season.
Plus you have to remember that the Rams are so deep at that position that they're going to have to share the ball a little bit between them which may diminish their individual numbers somewhat.
Most teams don't have this many premier WRs.
And Nacua is such a beast, who uses his physicality and strength so much that he's not exactly a 4.3 smooth burner like people envision in a prototype wide out.

But the real question is... "Does the OP consider any of those top receivers to be game changers?"

I mean, that’s a solid list.

Nothing wrong with having two top 15 or top 20 WR though if that’s where they fall.

Unlike many positions, Wide Receivers often decline very quickly. Almost fall off-a-cliff from Outstanding to Good to Nothing Special in just a couple seasons. Injury and Age (around 30) are often factors

I wonder if Tyreek Hill might be in that category. I may be WAY-OFF because I really don't like the guy, making it difficult for me to be objective.
