From what I have seen is that he is just not an accurate passer. Can't succeed in this league if you are not accurate.If the league catches wind that McVay has interest in any QB, then Snead will be trading up to get him, not trading back. When a good offensive minded coach is interested in a QB, other coaches start to think they need to take a closer look.
Shanahan couldn’t get anything from him. I don’t know what makes Jake think that McVay could go any better. That’s a terrible idea. Consider that Shanahan had backups like Nick Mullens and Beathard winning games and he gave up on Lance.
