IF!! If we cut Gurley what would it do to our cap?? How much would we save?? Where's the Cap Masters at!?? I'm not saying I want him cut, I'm just asking.

We’ve got this year and next where it would cost more cap space to cut him then what he is costing having him on roster. 2021 we would save almost $5 million in cap space cutting him and dead money would be over $8 mil. 2022 is the real out with saving $10 mil and costing $4 ish in dead money.

So whatever production we can squeeze out of him for the next two years we might as well. If we have to bite the bullet in 2021 it’s feasible especially with a new cba looming.

It's not a serious question nor a reasonable course of action. It's the kind of bullshit we hear from former athletes who want to be seen and heard on radio and TV networks that are bloated with sensationalized opinion pieces. It's click bait on TV.

Eh, they bring up some good points but they also blur the lines of the truth. They extended Gurley before his injury. They had no idea this was going to be an issue last offseason. I agree tho that teams are just playing the pass daring the rams to run.

I dunno if theres actually something wrong with Todd then we have to move on. If its something that will heal then that's different but at this point I doubt we'll ever know the truth until that day comes.

I do agree Sean has to stop taking all the blame at some point you have to hold players accountable but then again he is calling 68 passing plays a game, that's his fault. He does have two good young healthy RBS that's his call. And it's his call to keep Gurley as our starting rb.

I think this week in Seattle is going to tell us a lot about our team. We know them they know us. If we run under 15 attempts something drastic needs to be done. We won't have a winning record by the end of season if we doing what we're doing.

IF the Rams were to take This Sports Talking Head advice ...when? now ?

$34,850,000 million of dead cap hit!

In 2020 $25,650,000 million of dead cap hit!

RB CJ Anderson has joined the WWC now & is available again.

It is completely rational to be concerned about Gurley.,, but yeah cutting him isn't even in the realm of rationality for a number of reasons.
I think Carter does make some good points, i.e. that the Rams got bit in extending him early, and yes it's probably gonna go down as a bad contract for them. Right now the Rams are at the initial management stage this season, i.e. figuring out how many touches is right to keep him healthy. So he's jumping way ahead right now for clicks and reaction which is stupid and sadly par for the course for media nowadays.

Gurley's never going to be the same guy though. Just IMO he's lost some of his cutting ability and it sucks because it eats at his elusiveness and allows him to be wrapped up easier. If that is true then it will affect him in the pass game as well since cutting will put pressure on the knee. But all that aside he is still big and fast and can hit a seam and go so the Rams are correct to try to recoup that money by using him as a key piece even if it comes with a reduced role.

I don't expect much from Gurley or any player that isn't really part of the game plan. I think his production has more to do with McVay's play calling. I mean do people seriously expect big games from Gurley when he only touches the ball a dozen times?

He isn't touching the ball for a number of reasons.

One is the defense is crowding the line of scrimage to take away the run (6-1 defense) or the double A gap blitz

Football coaches go for what is open, and running the ball 30 times into a stacked defense is going to result in not many points scored.

The evidence also shows us that Gurley's health is questionable. what EXACTLY it is.. no one on this board knows.

Personally I dont think Gurley looks good. Whether it's injury related or mental. He doesn't run as hard/fast previous seasons and seems to play way more cautiously and goes down way easier. Play calling is definitely not doing him any favors (especially the O-line), but he seems to go down in open space and not burn people like we're used to seeing either.

Definitely can't cut him for cap reasons. If he's healthy, I want to see the ball in his hands at least 15-20+ times a game.

Even tho I didn't see the bucs game, the run play calling is bad. If you have 6 down lineman and 1lb, you run the ball up the gut, NOT OUTSIDE, NOT EAST AND WEST, NO STRETCH RUNS, NO REVERSE.... maybe a toss here and there Minimal off tackle plays.... but for gods sake run straight. Its simple math. You have 6 down defensice players and 5 lineman + a te. But a te in most cases can't block a DE CONSISTANTLY by themselves. It's been 5 games and we still haven't figured out the 6-1? Wtf was the coaching staff doing this off-season?

Rams if they cut him after 2020 season would eat 8.4 million in cap space. After 2021 it's 4.2 million. So you're looking at him being a Ram for another 2 years after this.

Why you don't sign running backs no matter what. Their shelf life is non existent. And when they go, they go. Maybe the Rams org will be looked upon nicely by other vets seeing how they took care of their own.
