hall of fame game missed the point GIF
Don't act like you point went over my head dude.
Love is nothing special. And nowhere as good as Goff. Dak maybe, but Dak kinda sucks too.
What I do not want for the Rams to invest a ton into a new QB and shove Stafford out the door while he still has game left.
The Brady analogy is a valid one. Mathew deserves to go out as a Ram and a HOF lock. I am all for getting the best WR and OT in next years draft if McSnead thinks its the right way to go.
I am pretty sure Cowheard has forgotten more about the NFL than you have ever known.

Yup, you missed the point

What he's really saying is that having to play a rookie once Stafford hangs it up is 1000% worth maximizing our window with Stafford. I.e. don't waste a premium pick on a QB when we can add a piece to improve the roster.

And I think that is spot on. We can figure out QB after Stafford retires
Snead basically said the same thing on Rich Eisen’s show too

"Deserves" is a bad word. He needs to prove it every year until he retires. This is the truth of older QBs and he's in that window now. Brady got run out of town and he still had it, so it's just the way this league is. They're eager to replace your old ass the moment they see anything that reeks of your game falling off.

What I like about our chances of Stafford playing a couple more years is he's a rare arm talent QB. So he's not gonna look like Manning, whose passes with the Broncos were trailing dust on quick outs. When he punches out it will be due to his family, or the league job options not lining up any longer in a way he prefers.

But even if he wins a Super Bowl this year, which I think is as likely as any other contending QB in this league, he might decide to sail into the sunset on top with the fairy tale ending. So once again there's a lot of football left and we are in no position to assume anything irt how long he's going to play.

IMO, QB purgatory is directly tied to front office incompetence. We were the worst run organization in that time period.

That is no longer the case as now we're one of the best run football teams.
I agree at that time the Rams were the worst run org in the league.
Just thankful they're back in relevance & I can hear Rams talk on national media again. Cow herd is fun to listen to, especially when he's giving out Rams love, and I totally agree we gotta ride the Matt train as long as he's chugging down the track & racking up W's. We could draft a QB in 2026, and he could sit 3 more years under Staff. I trust the FO to make a decision when it's time.

health is the only thing that will determine if Stafford plays 3 years. I really believe he feels like he can sling it as a top 5 qb in the league at 37, 38, 39 and hell even 40. So, I will be watching his hits and health as well as his arm talent like a hawk. Go Rams

The recently announced news of Jackson’s questionable status could also affect Stafford's longevity. Without a legit left tackle Stafford may not be long for this league. Let's hope Humphries' returns to even close to his earlier Pro bowl form and that AJ returns quickly. If AJ's status is too tenuous that may trump QB of the future in next years' draft. Of course, if Stafford get pounded in the ground due to a leaky OL and just decides to retire then both tackle and QB become preeminent needs.

That's funny. We don't have to worry about Murray paying attention, and learning how to win a SB. Notice he is hiding behind Purdy plying a video game. It's Purdy, the Apt Student I worry about.

Maybe Matthew can teach him a little about reading defenses, but you can't teach greatness. Purdy is a C- student in Soul Snatching 101. Kyler needs to come to summer school.

You can trade for most positions to find a stud if you're willing to give up enough.....the usual exceptions are QB and LT.

Nah Snead and MCVay have both made comments after this last deal with Stafford they are looking for a successor as his days are limited, just like AD's were limited. They know it's coming and that day seems to be after the 2026 season.

You'd be an idiot to mismanagement this roster and not come up with a plan for the successor for a good team at the most important position in all of sports.

during the fisher era he was stating the same pretty solid takes he does now...

the fact is that, his takes are pretty good across the nfl...

people have a hard time dealing with blunt truth...

i know i struggled with putting on my rose colored glasses during those lean years, but i couldn't argue with his assessments..

nowadays, people think he's too pro rams, but during the lean years, there wasn't any reason to spend a lot of time on them...

i didn't like it, but i couldn't make him talk more about something that didn't matter...

guess what.. now they matter, and cowherd is one of the few that get it...

i'll take that any day..

go rams

Yes, when Stafford went down in '22 we saw first hand what happens without one
Even Stafford couldn't do much without a halfway decent OL in the games he did play.

That year had one of the worst OLs I have ever seen due to injuries.

Kolone and Evans were absolutely horrible.
