Unless Williams is an arrogant dumbass who doesn't want to do the work I think he's going to be at least a good QB. Not really worried about him translating.

He's probably about an inch under that minimum height teams want but his offsched talents more than counter that.

The Rams don't put a lot of emphasis upon the Combine compared to other teams. Their approach emphasizes traits, both physical and performance coupled with game performance when they make their picks. They use a lot of game analytics to determine things like actual play speed, etc.

IMO it's why they draft so well particularly in the mid to late rounds. If the guy can play and he has the traits they like, then they will look deeper. They didn't do that with Bennett and simply wasted the pick. Sean allowed two assistant coaches to make their choice and they simply didn't vet Stetson and the team paid a heavy price for it.

You can't argue the results. Snead drafts as well as any GM and better than most. Holmes learned from Snead and it shows in how quickly he turned the Lions around.

It's why trying to guess when and who the Rams take is so difficult.

I would prefer more speed or more power. Something different to change it up.

I'd prefer the most talented fifth round running back. I think Schrader is that. And yes, he's a K-Will clone, but when he was hurt, our offense fell apart, and he got hurt a lot.

I'd gladly take Schrader with the Steelers fifth round pick and know that we have a running back who can grind out chunks of yards with vision, patience and power, pass-protect with the best, and catch the ball out of the backfield.

This nonsense reminds me of two phrases especially popular this time of year.

1) A big nothing burger

2) As Les Snead has called is many times and he's polite in his phrasing. It's silly season. The fact that this is a reason for people to dump on Caleb is well I'll use Les Sneads phrase silly.. Because we don't call people idiotic or other things like it around here :D

If Allen or Davis falls to the 5th, I'd be much happier grabbing them.

I wouldn't. Braelon Allen doesn't play up to his measured size at all. Ray Davis will go with a fourth; he's rising.

On the one hand, if he was going to be poked and prodded by 2-3 team medical staffs anyways, there really is no reason to bother with the extra poking and prodding at the combine.

On the other hand, skipping the combine meds probably gives him a few extra weeks to flush something out of his system.

Where are questions about work ethic & coachability coming from? I follow USC closely.. heard nothing of it.
I think most of what you’re suggesting is tired media narrative or stuff that has been misconstrued.
But that’s me… I’ve seen nothing but a player who works hard and leaves it all on the field for his teammates. Cares a lot.
It is pretty humorous how polarizing Caleb has become, I have seen all I need to see on the field which is where he makes his money and he has been impressive as much ability to make a difference as I have seen in a long time.

Some will just look for reasons to board the hate train.

The one fair concern that I somewhat share is how will he perform "off schedule" the NFL is a much different place than college but to this point I think he has shown better than P Mahomey.

Coleman with a slow 40 time which makes sense but he had the highest speed in the gauntlet

4.51 for Brendan Rice. Late 3rd rounder, at best, imo.
Watched a few more games of him and while I've never claimed to be an expert he just doesn't seem to have accelration or any kind of hhmmmm crispness? to his movements. Second 40 comes in the same at 4.50

I'd still gladly take him then. His father wasn't the fastest. Cooper Kupp isn't the fastest. Puka Nacua isn't the fastest.
