And ... my point is ... there IS a Difference between NOT even Trying to put a body on Jalen Carter vs. Knowing they have to at least try to block Carter ... and ... Actually Placing their body in front of the man.

The difference may only be a second but that can be THE DIFFERENCE in how the play ends up.

No because the result is the same. You can coach up a brain fart that's a positive. Shelton just sucks and will give up that sack no matter what. Limmer can learn and improve Shelton can't.

The kid is pursuing his dream. Just off the top of my head, I've noticed that Jake has had interviews with Tory Holt, Roland Williams, Steven Jackson, and Andrew Whitworth. And Jake has some sort of Rams show on cable TV here in the LA area.

Again, I don't really care much for Jake's stuff and think he is still is a long way from being a pro. But I don't begrudge him for working hard to pursue his dream. No need to give him shit or call him stupid.

There are reasons most journalists have college degrees in journalism.
And a big one is you don't make definitive statements on things you don't know for sure.
Saying Shelton, "will be the starter" is conjecture and not fact.
Real journalists give themselves wiggle room and how they state things.

If you listen to JB Long, it sounds like the Rams really wanted Shelton back. He seems to think the entire Oline played better with Shelton making the calls.

Kupp is gone,this off is going to change a little.Shelton helped The Bears beat The Rams by the way. Kupp was hurt though.

The difference is Atwell skill level is like no other Ram. Puka says he wakes up 4.3 .. ..Plus all those players besides say Evan’s basically were UDRFA’s The Rams signed.

Rosenboom got signed .Reeder was the only one brought back to The Rams.He didn’t start for Staley who thought a lot about him when The Rams were The NUMBER 1 DEFENSE in the NFL with Troy Reeder starting.He them helped Raheem Morris win a Superbowl.

The Bobby Evan’s experience was just a SHAME!!! Not worth the letters to try to put together.

The JET SWEEP will be Back in 2025.Jordan will bring a little of that to The Ram Games as Well(tutu).

A 1 YEAR deal ? That doesn’t hurt anyone side.It’s a process it deal.
Atwell came out early.He wasn’t a 1st RD Pick,but he was The Rams Number #1 Pick !! Adding a 5th Year is all his contract does.Je played through COVID as well.

He was targeted once against The Eagles.He kept the drive a live.That’s not the last time I wanted to see him as a Ram.There is a lot invested into Atwell.

I think having consistency and health early on would go along way into getting the unit starting fast.

Wendell took over in '23:
LT- Camp battle between Noteboom and Jackson. Jackson wins, previous year Noteboom.

LG- Drafted Avila, replacing Edwards.

C- Camp battle between Shelton and Allen. Shelton wins, previous year Allen.

RG- Noteboom takes over. By week 2 he's missing time. Dotson takes over by week 4.

'24:
LT- Alaric misses the first two games. Had an ankle injury in TC.

LG/C- Tried slotting Jonah at LG, and Avila at C. A week or 2 before the regular season they swap. Jonah had an injury in TC as well. Only plays the first 2 games. Avila leaves week 1.

RG- Dotson ankle injury week 1, plays through.

RT- Havs missed all of August, and week 1, with an ankle injury.

This season it's looking like at least 4 starters are in place. Hopefully they make it to the regular season healthy.

Just(in) missing something.Dedich & Limmer kept The Rams a live.There was debate about C/G.
Dedich got 3 starts as a Ram(UDRFA)Not to Mock Bubba Ram,but here is another one of those types The Rams find & make work.(McSnead)

It’s a hard call,but just having The Depth The Rams with there O’Line coaching staff is Pretty Rad Merlin.
Posters can talk all there Smack,but bringing Shelton back makes a lot of sense,all around.

IMO Beaux Limmer is a big STRONG guy.He isn’t like any of The past C/G. The cool thing here is he can probably swing out to Guard.This is only going to make him a Better Player !!! Zak Kromer is still in his post helping w/ Munch!!

I drink the KOOL-AIDE!! Just to get it right JOSEPH NOTEBOOM was a DISASTER !!! Blame Big Whit for some of that.He needed to step back from a coaches standpoint,not as a player & friend.

I fall into that category,just from my post above,but did clarify it was if opinion.

I agree that Limmer has a chance to start,but once again he gets to learn a lot from Shelton.Coleman brings back a lot to The Rams after starting 17 NFL games for Da Bears & playing more snaps than almost any player in 2024 there.

Could Beaux Limmer be moved to guard ?? I could and do see him getting a lot of different Reps.

I wonder about that though,because who is going to be The Rams swing C/G ?? We saw Johna & Steve do it last season.

You seem to see a light at the end of the Shelton sucking tunnel. I do not add to that how much more we're paying for Shelton over Limmer. I think this and the Atwell turn a great off season into a mediocre one. Shelton is not good and not only do I think he gives up that same sack that everybody is upset with Limmer and Dotson for giving up but I think he gives up a lot more of them that Limmer did not. So many that it affects our chances to get back to that game. Shelton is not good and there aren't enough rose colored glasses to change my opinion on this signing.

Go back and read my initial response to Bubba ... All I wrote was that trying to block Carter "is better than letting the opponent's best defensive player run un-blocked to the quarterback on the most critical play of the the season."

I might be remembering this incorrectly, but as I recall Coleman Shelton the Center was solid. It was Coleman Shelton the guard that was below average. Sure he could get bull rushed by some bigger DTs from time to time in one on one matchups but so can most centers. I believe that Poona Ford destroyed anyone the Rams lined up at center (Sullivan, Allen, Shelton) when he was in Seattle.

I guess the key in team building is team. It's impossible to have 22 studs in the staring lineup. And if the Rams believe that Shelton's experience, fit, knowledge of the schemes, consistent availability, and relationship/communication with Stafford are what is best for the team, I have no problem with his signing. Especially when it's just $12 million for 2 years.

The missed block was the lack of communication and everyone is forgetting that. The line call was not right, that is why neither Limmer nor Dotson made the play, they were looking elsewhere. Shelton does have that ability and that is why he was brought back for his communication ability and to ensure everyone is on the same page.

And my point is Limmer did it one time. Shelton will do it weekly that's why Johnson replaced him. There is nothing positive about this signing. You say the positive is he'll block on that one play and I seriously doubt it.

Why not? We're pretending Limmer wasn't let down by his teammate as well on one play. Shelton is a flawed player that's smaller and older and more expensive than Limmer. And there's a ton of tape out there of him being bad. Limmer is far from perfect but there's an upside to him in his 2nd year that Shelton simply doesn't have.

I remember him consistently getting pushed back into Stafford in that Detroit playoff game in 23'. That convinced me that he had to go.
