This is amazing and very rare as they always tell you to strike when the iron is hot. I'm going to assume that no job really appeals to Johnson or he feels he's not the #1 choice with the opportunities. He also could feel he needs another year, but if Detroit struggles next year, there will be other Johnsons.

That is surprising… but it sounds like he was a front runner in Carolina only, and I don’t think that’s a great landing spot to start a HC career.
