I have a good feeling about Chris Shula for some reason, I bet we blitz a ton in 2024 under Shula & I also believe after the Rams win the Super Bowl, he will be the next Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

FWIW I dreamt this last night, seriously. Woke up, immediately told my wife and her response: "You are the same man I married over 30 years ago." My response: "Is that a good thing?"
Put down the cheap box wine and slowly back away.

Question about DL positioning ..... I understand a 3-tech to line up on the outside shoulder of the Guard. On the diagrams above, you show the 4i on the "inside" shoulder of the Tackle. They seem so similar. Can you please explain the difference?
a 4i is the inside eye of the tackle the 3, as you rightly point out, is outside should of the guard and yes, very similar. But it's not the 4i and 3 that need to be compared, it's the 5 tech and the 4i. In the TITE front the DEs -- the 5-techs --- reduce down from outside eye or tight shoulder of a tackle they go to inside eye. This is a tougher block for a tackle to get someone out of the B-gap. In the shchem the 4i is expected to take the B-gap and squeeze the A (gap and a half) ...Also, a 4i could also take the B-gap and squeeze the C-gap in theory ... if the 0-tech had a call to one-gap the A-gap to his side.

In a one-gap 3-4 the 5-tech would have the C-gap --- unless he had a call to go inside.

however, the one you refernce is an under front ... so one is a 3-tech and one is a 4 so that is not a TITE front --- it's a way of hedgeing you bets.. shifts the line slightly away from the stregnth of the closed side

Bottom line ... 4i is a tough block for a tackle. The weakness is if he gets pinned in then the C-gap could be open if the ILB and OLbers don't get their job done.

I am in LV for the week ... dont' have access to tons of stuff ... will be glad to go more in depth

Thank you for taking the time. And, yes, would love to go more in depth later when it is more convenient.

When my wife told me the same thing I asked her "Are you bragging or complaining?"

6 pages in and all I know is that I don't know Jack shit about this hire.
I think you're getting Chris Shula and Jack Schitt mixed up? ;)

That one's great. :laugh3:

Here's another old favorite:

The Plan

In the beginning was the Plan.

And then came the Assumptions.

And the Assumptions were without form.

And darkness was upon the face of the Workers.

And they spoke among themselves, saying, "It is a crock of shit, and it stinketh."

And the workers went unto their Supervisors and said, "It is a pail of dung, and none may abide the odour thereof."

And the Supervisors went unto their Managers, saying, "It is a container of excrement, and it is very strong, such that none may abide by it."

And the Managers went unto their Directors, saying, "It is a vessel of fertiliser, and none may abide its strength."

And the Directors spoke amongst themselves, saying one to another, "It contains that which aids plant growth, and it is very strong."

And the Directors then went onto the Vice Presidents, saying unto them, "It promotes growth and is very powerful."

And the Vice Presidents went unto the President, saying unto him, "This new plan will actively promote the growth and vigour of the company; with powerful effects."

And the President looked upon the Plan, and saw that it was good.

And the Plan became Policy.

This is How Shit Happens.

Interesting tidbit about sticking to the base scheme.

If I was calling a defense I'd want to be up in the booth to have that full look at the field.
