Always loved Chris. Dude played his heart out and wasn’t always appreciated. I’ve always been a big fan of his and got to meet him after an STL game! Dude could of palmed my head and threw me across the street! Lol

Wish him the best!

Good player, better person. Donated an entire seasons salary don't forget. The knock on these mouthy athletes is to put their money where their mouths are, and Chris sure did that.

His Waterboys charity works to provide clean drinking water for communities in Africa. I can't understand why anyone would have a bad word to say about the guy.

I am going to go waaaay out on a limb that the problem for some people is the same problem that this country is full of
- politics.

People have a hard time these days with other people having a different opinion.
Chris Long is consistent, whether you agree with him or not, he puts his money where his mouth is and like most in this country, if you agree with him or not, his heart is in the right place.

That's kinda what I was getting at. You can disagree with the guys politics all you like but he does a lot of extremely positive stuff both in his own community and wider than that which has nothing at all to do with politics. Some people are pulling him down because they disagree with him politically which is petty and short sighted in my opinion.

Chris was a very good player. Mostly healthy and consistently good at a very physical position.

Off the field he gave a lot back and really seemed to share himself as as person.

Special career.

CL is the still the only Ram whose jersey I went out and got before he played a down with us. Ended a string of terrible 1st round picks and was the first piece of what would turn out to be a great defensive line and DE corps. High motor, productive pass rusher who was just a pain for OTs to block.

Though we didn't win enough with him we did play spoiler on a number of occasions with him playing a large role (2 sacks against Chargers in 2010, 3 sacks against Saints in 2011). And he had some big games against Seattle as well.

You are exactly right, it is about politics.

He played hard for us every snap and I can respect that. I love some of his charitable activities and despised some of his political opinions...and no, I am not giving any examples. Yes, he has a right to have different opinions and I am tolerant of that. I do get pissed when someone is self righteous and intolerant/dismissive with those having a different opinion that may not be politically correct. So while I respect his playing time here, I was not upset when he left...

Agreed.

I first realized Chris Long was an exceptional human being when I heard about how he and William Hayes decided to feel what it was like to be homeless for awhile. Both of those guys are passionate about helping people, they’re not just going through the motions.

Here’s an article about it.

Please.
This is what I don't like about him.
He's play acting and making sure the press is there.
He knows what it's like to camp without a tent for one night.
I would assume he is bright enough to know this is play acting and little else. Hard to tell how much is just spin from the writer.
That said, I'm sure he is a compassionate person who believes in what he is doing.
There is something about him that strikes me as phony.
I appreciate his heart and hustle on the field. Not the most talented guy, but, a relentless motor.
I think it will be a few months before his reality show or a show "Chris Long saves the world" or whatever is announced.
Charity as self promotion.
I could be totally wrong about him.
He was a great Ram.

Many guys do charity work and give without notoriety. “Don’t let the right hand know what the left hand is doing.” Chris does a lot of good things. But the camera is always there. He also takes strong stances. When you hate, you gotta be ready to be hated.
