This doesn't make sense... Re phrase maybe?

Not interested in stiring the pot

"Re phrase"

Many here believe a highly drafted QB needs to start week one (there are definite pros and cons, I feel one out weighs the other)

Others here believe draft position is irrelevant, trot him out when he's deemed ready

I side with the latter

I wonder whom was higher rated coming out of college between David Carr or CW?

Careful for what you ask for is my stance on the "play me week one" crowd

I'm going to root for Wentz, seems like an easy guy to root for.

I agree with you ,me, and all Rams fans been waiting for a winning season for over 10 years. This actually why I don't mind Keenum as the starter because with him I see a winning record. Maybe not 14-2 or 13-3 but probably 9-10 wins.

Do you really think we sacrifice all the picks and a young mans career just throwing his ass out on the field when he's clearly not ready to?! I understand Philly got a crazy dumb deal for Bradford and I don't blame them but Goff has a modern day NFL rarity in being able to sit and learn which we should all appriciate.

You're not realistic lol. We will not win more than 8 games with Keenum as the starter, that is his ceiling. Save this if you think you can force the crow down my throat but it's true.

It's realistic to expect a top 5 QB to start. It's just how it is now. If the QB is not ready to start and play, then he was not worth a top 5 pick, thats just the truth. Even if he stays and plays as bad as Bortles did his rookie yr ppl will be satisfied as long as he shows flashes.

Aaron Rodgers could be what he is today bc of his situation more than his skill set. Switch he and Alex Smith and there is a real good possibility Smith is the better QB. But in reality neither of them were worth a top 5 pick if they couldn't contribute to the team immediately. I honestly think there were a few good qbs that could be as good as Rodgers is now, sitting behind at the time the greatest QB in NFL history, and one of the best QB coach combos.

If we don't have the coaches around him Goff to get him ready and make him a good QB then someone/ppl need to be fired and fast.

This has nothing to do with us...shouldnt be frustrating...id be willing to bet if the Vikings offered the Rams a 1st and 4th for Keenum this headline would read "Jared Goff Named Starting Quarterback"

I disagree.
In that case, for week one I think the headline would read "Sean Manion starting Quarter Back."

Two things, Daniel has looked very mediocre at best this preseason...I have not seen much of their games, but fans have been calling the radio shows and have been very underwhelmed by him. So why not start Wentz?

The other factor that has been brought up is that once the Bradford deal materialized, there was pressure on the Eagles to go right ahead and start Wentz when you consider their own division rival feels they can start a 4th rounder, who has shined in preseason (Dak), and if tehy can't start the 2nd overall when they no longer have a starting QB, then they look bad. And they realize they are going nowhere this year with the holes on their roster even playing in a bad division.

My concern with Wentz would be whether he can stay healthy. Facts are he has suffered significant injuries in HS, college, and then got hurt in his 1st preseason game. His injury history is what scared me away from him. Some guys are just prone to getting hurt and he seems to break bones rather easily.

To me this is a strange move even though Wentz is more Pro ready than Goff. They have Chase who could win them some games while Wentz gets healthy and ready to start.
This smacks of ownership interference.

I don't know this proves Wentz is more pro ready than Goff at all.
It does prove that the Eagles do NOT have a viable alternative. As opposed to the Rams.
I would think we should be happy about that.

I am happy about that and Goff is not as Pro ready as Wentz or he'd be pushing Keenum to start. Goff has a lot to learn.
I just hope that he doesn't turn out to be the QB version of Quick.

I don't think we know that for sure.
I guess I may have a higher opinion of Keenum than you. :sneaky:

And who exactly did Wentz push to start? Nobody. He's essentially the starter by default with no NFL experience aside from half a preseason game. It's impossible to determine whose more ready as of right now.

The two sweetest words in the English language: De-fault!

I just don't understand the logic where Case Keenum limits this TEAM to a 7-9 win season as if he's the only player out there.

For sure if the Rams cannot do better this season. I want the entire coaching staff fired. Go coach mediocrity elsewhere.

The Eagles seem to be re-building this year, especially with the trade of Bradford, and now setting things up for the future. With Wentz starting, they will be competing a uncertain to medium level at best. If they do reach a high level of competition at some point this year, its a bonus. So why not...

The decision has already been made regarding the draft and we have to just accept it. I love and hate the debates between the QB's but at the end of the day, we can't change it. :(

How am I not being realistic? Lol
People are thinking Keenum has to be pro bowl bound to get us a winning record or 9-10 and he doesn't. All he needs to is manage the game and not give up 2 pick 6's or a fumble 6 like the his predecessors and we'll be good in games we should of won.
Factor in we are a running team with an upgraded experienced, Gurley, line, ,OC, and WR's we are definitely a 9-10 win team.

Is there an exact formula to make a great QB? Regardless if its top 5 QB or not it's an opinion not a fact that a top drafted QB has to play. Give the dude some time to grow into his new profession as a pro.

I'll remind you that Quinn, Donald, Gurley didn't start right away and look at where they are now. Would you say how the progressed their learning curve was wrong?

TBH I'm not totally sold on Weinke and think we could of done a ton better for Goff but we'll see how things process. I honestly think by week 5-8 Goff will be good to go where he won't be a total liability and the reads come truer and with the game slowing down.

On final note the one thing that is undeniable is Fisher is trying to balance these two things: what he feels is best for young Goff to develop and be our franchise QB for 10+ years and what is best to have a winning team now.

Considering those two factors that is clearly the path this team and franchise is on.
