Wow that's a pretty big jump. Guys, talented and untalented, are going to be paid up the ying yang.

Slightly off topic, but numbers like this and where the NFL is going, I can't help but agree with Mark Cuban's notion that eventually the golden goose will be killed. The NFL and its numbers are crazyyy. Even with supply and demand, I can't imagine how the NFL can maintain and grow its platform.

Doesn't really change anything. Yes we have some more cap space but so do the other teams.
If you're looking to get into a bidding war for a top guy yeah, but the increase will allow the rams to resign their own guys and pickup a key FA or two easier. The Tru tag hurts a little less.

What it means for the Rams is they have plenty of room to sign Tru to a long term deal and still get a lot of quality free agents to supplement into new systems if they can. The trick will be convincing them to pick us over all the other teams who now have money. But with implementing two new systems on both sides of the ball and less draft stock than usual the key word here is quality free agents. Maybe they'll surprise with a big FA spending grab but they'd be better off filling out depth and fringe starting spots with system fits. There's plenty of cap space now to do that with.

Very short term it's a help giving teams a little more room to resign their own players or a couple FA'.s but as players are signed and the 53 roster is filled the increase is eaten up in across the board salary hikes.

IMO they need to identify the guys they really want then go get them. Be mentally prepared to pay a little more if it's the right player too.

Garcon is an obvious target for them. But even an older dude like him is probably going to make a little more than they previously estimated. If he's your guy, suck it up and sign him.

Yes and no, what you said applies to every team equally. If we thought we were going to be able to get a guy on the cheap because his previous team had little room they now have more. The only thing this changes is players will now on average get more money.

For reference on the cap. Since 2013 it's gone up 36%. Contracts will go up each year just like the overall cap.

Well, this does give the rams the option of addressing second tier players. If the rams can grab a good guard, linebacker and a decent reciever then it would be a good offseason

I like the raise in the cap but if they're not careful it can and will kill the league...

They don't have a choice. It represents the collectively bargained for percentage of the profits that the players receive.(well, some of that percentage)
