Saquon is hurt again too. Sure it makes Taylor more urgent to get a long term deal but validates teams not wanting to give them at the same time

Once again, its not a rumor that Miami is all in this year. They have tons of tough decisions to make sooner than later and have acquired quite a bit of talent to try to win it all. Whether that works or not is a whole other thing.

And Taylor's agent can make it known his client only wants to be traded to a team that gives him that long term security which is why I think if a team does, there will be a contract in place. That alone can deter teams from trading if they aren't willing to make that commitment and don't want to take on someone else's disgruntled employee.

The rumor that Miami talked contract, was pre-season. Colts had enough sense to put a deadline on it which was but final cut downs.
Dolphins may be all in but they are already over the cap for 2024 so....
We'll see!

Agents can say whatever they want, doesnt mean anything. If the Colts trade him, its because they got the best deal. Again, we'll see. But as much as you think its nuts to trade for him without a contract, I think its nuts to trade for him, then pay him, without even knowing how his play is affected by his injury

The issue had to do with draft compensation that the Colts wanted. That drunk bastard in Indy wasn't giving up Taylor for cheap which is why no trade ever materialized. Also lets just say a team like the Saints consistently kicking the can down the road has shown me the cap can be figured out although Miami will have to answer for those decisions one of these days.

I think someone out there is crazy enough to take the risk but ultimately they need to convince Irsay which I imagine is tough as shit. I will state that I never said it will happen just that it takes one team to make it happen. We will definitely see if someone is desperate enough or silver tongued enough to convince Irsay.

To make a trade before this years deadline it would have to be close to a bargain for me to do it. No 1st round. A 2nd a 3rds and a couple of conditional snap count picks that could range from 3 to 6. This would be for burns. I would draft my running back. Probably not realistic, but they would have to nudge me off my plan. Pluss they said no to me. So i would want to make them pay for that.

Again, that was then (and a rumor at that) and things have changed greatly since. Teams finalized rosters, had ability to make cap moves etc. Its apples to oranges, since then Taylor hasnt been able to play, we just saw a star RB out for the season, and the reality of what Tua is going to cost them, all changes the landscape. And all we know about the alleged contract was that it was the framework of a deal

1. Taylor has a history of reliability, especially as compared to CMC. CMC is one hit away from being out for the year, given his injury history.
2. Taylor is a stud. We are not a great team, but we are a good team with very young players who will develop as the season goes on. Will an elite player like Taylor push the Rams from being a Wild Card caliber team to an NFCCG contending team? If so, I give up the 1st rounder next year for him, because we are a team that is ballsy . Let 'em swing, Les! ~ @den-the-coach

No trade whatsoever.

Rams can hold on to their three rounds and develop their players that fit within their schemes.

If anything, trade a 5th and 6th for Burns.

For Jonathan Taylor, three 7th rounders would suffice.

That's just not true. McCaffrey was an ironman prior to his 2 season injury malaise, and hasnt missed time since. We have yet to see how Taylor is affected from missing 10 games (and counting) over 2 seasons.

And who knows what Taylor will look like running behind an o-line that doesnt have the quality of the Colts line?
 
CMC has played in 77 out of 100 (77.0%) regular season games in his career.

Taylor has played in 43 out of 52 (82.6%).

Taylor needs the Colts to come down to earth in expectation of trade value. Until that happens he is not in play. But that process has probably been running in the background and certainly the Colts see what the market is right now.

Also I think Taylor will affect that market in terms of what his contract demands are. If he is open to a deal that is reasonable then I think it helps his value. If he is unreasonable then it is a short term outlook where you rent him then he fucks off thereafter. Because no team wants a guy who will cry about being franchised, not with such a strong outlook in RB answers in the draft.

Of course I have no idea where he lands on that spectrum. But I would be in the discussion until he is moved and if his acquisition is affordable I would be bidding.

I think our Oline will get better as the year progresses and so Taylor would have ;opportunity for success. As for CMC, two years is a long time in the NFL, when the average career lasts three years....
