That call on Williams was HORSESHIT
Williams displayed textbook pass defense in the endzone.

They were both tangled up and pushing off equally when allen under threw the ball.

Also how was that pass interference on 37 Lake when they're both running down the field and the receivers stops on a dime?

The rams had to beat the referees today for sure.
I don't want to believe this crap is rigged but you have to wonder sometimes

The Lake one, I understood.

The Williams one was questionable.

The offensive one on Robinson was straight up ridiculous.

The Williams one was even worse than the Robinson one. Robinson and the DB were hand-fighting. Absurd to call that. But they were at least jostling. Williams played clean coverage and fought through Cooper's push off to break up the pass. And yes, Lake committed DPI. I was furious at him. If he turned around, he'd have realized the ball was at his feet.

What did Williams do that i missed?
I saw them both covering each other tightly in the end zone and then Williams bats the ball away.
The end of the play wasn't where I saw what I thought the Refs called.. I thought it looked like he was grabbing Cooper when he started to work back to the ball. Maybe I'm wrong.

We have the most expensive offense in the league.

We have, by far, the least expensive defense in the league.

The offense is supposed to be good; the defense was not. Yet, while the defense isn't good this year, it has outperformed the offense to this point.
What is your point? The OL has been a revolving door for most of the season thus far. It doesn't matter how many offensive stars one has if your QB lacks sufficient time to throw and your RBs have little room to roam.

I fully believed once our OL was healthy, in game shape, and motivated that we would explode.

We still need to get Higbee up to speed - that will extend the offensive explosiveness even more.

It might help to work new CB Emmanuel Forbes into the games involving the divisional goes and the Jets. We might need him in the playoffs should we get there.

My point was contained in the post. Here it is again:

I agree with you that there are good reasons the offense has underperformed. I'm very glad to see what the offense is capable of with a healthy OL.

But my post was more of a defense of the defense.

It's always been unreasonable to expect this defense to be good this year given the youth and the meager expense invested in it. Complaints about the D are misguided IMO.

Yeah i tried to find some other angles of that replay but wasn't able to.

the Defense has ranked near the bottom of the league all year.

I like some of our young players and we could be good some day.

But the defense has been one of the worse defenses in the league all year in most categories.

This bizarre narrative started happening in the past couple years.

No matter how inept the defense plays it's like a special little baby that's protected by a handful of people.
They need 2 starting quality CBs. It's that simple. They need to do what Philly did last year, add two top level CBs whether by draft and or FA. They do that, along with the maturity of a young DL, and they should be very good. Sure, a pure NT and LB help would also be nice, but a top CB tandem would be a huge addition.

Certainly one top corner is needed. Young stud who can take top draws. But you may be right that we need more than that. Honestly I am floored by how bad this secondary is. To the point that I would be considering firing a DB coach that I have always respected.

Understand because fundamentally, the DBs play so poorly. They are either playing off ball with an unbelievable cushion, or they find themselves pressing to get in position but never get their head turned. I have never seen a group of DBs let so many balls that should easily get defended, end up in the hands of receivers.

If Lake had looked for the ball that wouldn't have been PI.

His mistake was not turning around.

well all i can say is i was completely wrong about mcvay being distracted by model wife and new kid. also wrong about Stafford getting old oh well i was wrong once before.

These CB's... if they just turn their heads around... the INT's we coulda had...
And yes, a looong ball pass like this, he should've turned his head.
Not sure it would've mattered though, I knew the refs were gonna eff with us all day, from the moment the first flag on BY was thrown on the Bill's first drive.

I get that's the officials view.
But how in the hell if you're running with a wide receiver who stops on a dime and looks around are you able to instantly stop and look around?
It's physically impossible.
I have always had a problem with that outlook.

I disagree with that outlook. He was looking at the receiver the whole time and had plenty of time to avoid the receiver.

Actually IIRC he did turn and look but too early and he should have looked again but was trailing trying to catch up when the ball arrived. The replays began just after his look back I think.

Not defending the way Lake played that ball... but I think it was also a smart play by Buffalo.

The defense was trending upward, but it seems to have hit a plateau or gotten worse as of late. The secondary has weak spots, but we also have one of the worse run defenses in the NFL - not exactly a winning combo.
