I went to Chicago last summer and about 3am I was hungry and suprised to see that all restaurants were open. I asked a local, what was something good go grab and they recommended an Italian beef. Omg, it was like 2lbs and it was soo good I ate the whole thing even though it was enough for 3meals. It was even topped with a whole saliccia sausage! Here is a pic I took of it.

Also when I was in Memphis I ate nothing but bbq. And I went to a place called interstate bbq. And ordered bbq spaghetti... It was in homemade bbq sauce with pulled pork in it. Best stuff I ever had hands down

Within the US: Mesa, Arizona -- the Chile Rellenos at the Blue Agave, chased down with an ice cold cerveza. Damn, those things are good!

Outside the US: Venice, Italy -- the Antico Martini restaurant. There were about 6 small courses, and EVERYTHING was awesome. Can't definitively remember what each course was, because the wine was flowing bountifully, too. Hell, even the bread was phenomenal. If you ever make the trek to Venice, it's worth checking out -- expensive, and worth it.

I'm in Siena tonight. But I'll be in Venice later in the week. So I'll give it a try. Let you know.

I love eating the local food. I need another trip south for Mexican!

Years ago in Panama City, Panama I ran across some ceviche that I can still taste. It was brilliant.

In a bed and breakfast in Venice, Italy a few years back I had coffee and a pastry for breakfast that astounded me. I'm not a huge coffee drinker and more of a bacon and egg guy for breakfast but this was the best I ever encountered.

And I know Carnival is not a high end cruise line but their "warm chocolate melting cake" and "grand marnier souffle" is hard to beat, fresh on my mind from last week.

And I've got to mention the crab claws at the Boomtown Casino in Biloxi, MS. Man o Man, they'll make a fat boy sing!!!

I can only make it like this when I'm in the Bahamas... so I'm gonna say Conch Salad. Conch cannot be legally harvested here in the US.

It's something I make every single day when I'm there. The first thing we do when heading out for a day on the water is collect at least 15 conchs. We pick them up on the grass flats in about 10 - 20 feet of water. They stay alive all day+ in the boat without any water or ice. We use half of them or more for bait during the day. The other half is for us.

If you've ever had Ceviche,,, conch salad is basically the same thing. The conch is actually "cooked" with citrus juices.

We skin and dice up Fresh conch (it's still alive when we clean it) and mix it with lime, orange, and lemon juices along with diced onions, peppers, and tomato. Once mixed together, we cool it down in a cooler of ice for several hours (if you can wait that long). Hot sauce is usually added to your own taste.

It's my favorite food on earth... and as a bonus, it's also called Bahamian Viagra. Conchs have the highest testosterone level of any animal on the planet... For the record, I believe.

There's a place just outside of Solvang, Ca called the Hitching Post. Best steak ever. If any of you have seen the movie Sideways, it's the restaurant they frequent. So effing good!

Conch ceviche and fry fish in the Bahamas. (Had no idea about the added benefits there George - makes sense in hind sight though :sly: ) Octopus of all sorts on the Caribbean side of Panama. Ribs at Pig Feathers heh heh. King Crab in Seattle. Sushi at Saburo's in Portland, OR. Lobster tacos and fried bananas in Matzatlan. A freakin hot dog on Times Square. Butter fried squid at Yen Ha in Portland. And believe it or not - Jumbo Prawns in North Platte, NE.

Seared fresh tuna cooked in a cocount sauce at Hotel Bora Bora in Tahiti.

Oh man. Totally. So unassuming too. You get a feeling once you enter though. Killer wine selection too.

Sad that Mattei's Tavern closed in nearby Los Olivos. Most amazing artichokes you ever ate.

If you get a chance, check out Jocko's Steak House in Nipomo. It's been 5 years or so since I've been there but their steaks (oak seared) may be the best in the state. Not fancy - just tasty. Note: Some times a little salty so maybe ask for lightly seasoned if you are salt sensitive.

I had conch salad when I was there too. Fucking amazing. Also had some fish and chips to die for.

Jocko's, got it. I'll add it to my list.

My favorite food I had out of town just might be the "Woody Allen" sandwich from Carnegie Deli in Manhattan. If you go to NYC, Midtown, stop there, believe me it's worth it

Siena is awesome, too. Have a blast -- I'm envious, man.

Two of the best Fort Lauderdale/Miami Tony's and Wolfies Rascal House, that was in the late 70s

The fettucini alfredo dish at Wolfgang Pucks in Vegas comes to mind.

Hmmmmm this is a hard one......

Jerk chicken in Jamaica at the Pickled Parrot eating right at the cliffs edge at sunset.

Oddly enough there was a hotel that had an Irish bar in Rochester, I can't recall the name if it. I stayed there a few times. I'm a wing snob and this place had the best wings I have ever had and I have had wings all over the USA. I always knew where the best sushi bar and best wing joints were in my travels.....this place was second to none! And they made their own blue cheese too!

Pok Pok's Fish Sauce Chicken Wings in Portland, OR has to get my vote. BY FAR THE BEST WINGS ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH

If not for Pok Pok, I'd say nothing beats deep dish in Chicago. You pick your place. I like Geno's East. Or NY deli's.
