Benny did very well on kickoff returns. He never had great burst, but he had the strength to over power would-be tacklers. He pass blocked well and caught passes well. However, he did had a number of untimely fumbles. Nevertheless, onto da Bears. Johnny is gonna need another #1 receiver for his fake punt passes with Benny leaving, but there are plenty of replacements.

I wish him the best. Dude was a great presence and a hard worker, he is probably capable of starting somewhere tbh.

Although he'll split reps with that rookie stud in Chicago who's name I forget (Howard I think)

Gonna miss Benny. Might not be as easy as some folks think to replace the guy with the 3rd best kickoff return avg. in the NFL

with how few kick returns are returned, I dont think thats a big worry at all. Not to mention the difference between his avg and a touchback is a few yards.

.

to tell you the truth i'd rather they worked with mike thomas to hone his kick return abilities. he looked explosive on the returns he was able to hang onto the ball. give him the full offseason to work on his game and he might make it his job to lose.

Benny Cunningham - RB - Bears
Bears signed RB Benny Cunningham, formerly of the Rams, to a one-year contract.

It's a solid, under-the-radar signing for the Bears. Cunningham is a dependable pass-catching and pass-protecting runner out of the backfield who didn't get many opportunities behind Todd Gurley in L.A. Cunningham can also return kickoffs; he has a 27.1 average on 95 career returns. His addition could spell trouble for Jeremy Langford and/or Ka'Deem Carey behind Jordan Howard.

Which back is going to block for Goff now? He was the best one they had for that. Plus he was a good consistent return man. Oh yeah, and he actually understood that the point of each play was to get past the first down marker.

I really liked Benny. I am sad to see him go. I think this is McVay's first misjudgement of a player.

Hate to see him go. Hope he does well though. Would we get a draft pick if he does?

Probably not because compensatory picks are mostly based on contract numbers of free agents leaving compared to those we sign. With us signing so many free agents this offseason I doubt we get any comp picks next year.

So long, Benny, you'll be missed. Thanks for always playing hard and giving it your all, especially with all that was going on. Good luck.

Hayes, Simms, and Cunningham were the few Fisher guys that actually worked hard for this team. His presence will surely be missed.
