As things stand today what do you feel the Rams biggest needs are in free agency and the draft?

Tight end and wide receiver in that order. I actually like the UDFA corners we signed last year (Wallace, Woods, Lampkin), Durant could be solid, they probably want to see what they have in Forbes, and if they're still unconvinced, they'll either re-sign Witherspoon or draft a mid-round corner; this class is filled with solid corners who could fall under the radar (Jacob Parrish, Nohl Williams, etc.)

Inside linebacker is a need, but the Rams never seemed to value the position. Speights was great in his rookie year, and they could probably use a late round pick or spend money for a solid UDFA. I think Hummel will take over the other starting role, and he may end up doing a better job than Rozeboom (and certainly better than Reeder).

Running back is a position where I'd like to see more explosion and better ball protection, but I doubt the Rams are going to spend a pick after they put so much into the position already (drafting Corum, plucking Schrader off the 69ers roster).

Quarterback stopped being a need once we re-signed Stafford. Backup? Possibly, but this isn't the class for it.

Nose tackle is something I don't think we need. We could sign someone like Leki Fotu if we really wanted, but Davis, Johnson (whom, despite his size, is an outstanding run defender), and Olajiga (physical freak of nature) look like a solid group. I'm much more worried about interior pressure from the backups.

It has to be tight end, first and foremost: without Higbee, we had no threat from any tight end, and Higbee is already injury prone and old. Fortunately, this is an excellent class for tight ends.

Then there's wide receiver. We could sign someone in free agency, but this is a good class for wide receiver. Really would love to have Luther Burden III; I think he brings the explosive deep threat we lack, and I truly believe his attitude issues are overblown. Getting him in the second round would be a dream come true to me.

But what we really need is a more dynamic offense.

I am happy we have Stafford back, same with securing AJ… But those moves don’t add to our offense… it keeps things status quo.

We need to add to this offense, big time!

2024 wasn’t good enough.

Here's hoping they produce more than 21 points per game next season. The Rams were out scored by 20 pts over the course of last season. That is not sustainable if you truly think this team was "13 yards from hoisting the Lombardi" last year.

I think explosives on Offense. McVay has said he wants a more explosive backfield via the run and pass. He wants to get the backs more involved in the passing game.

A run stuffing DT capable of pushing the pocket

A CB capable of being left on a island against a #1 or #2 WR

A playmaking LB

A QB of the future that can sit and learn for a season

As the roster sits now, the thought of Nacua missing time would really highlight how weak the WR room is without Kupp and Tutu.

It feels we are desperate for pass catchers at WR and TE.

It's a great thread topic (thanks for posting @Ramstien); and one week from Monday, the open-window to negotiate with free agents will begin. In less than two weeks, most of the top unrestricted free agents will have made their decisions on where to play. Going to happen fast.

One Salary Cap Comment. As of right now, both OTC and Spotrac have the Rame with about $44M of cap space.

That amount does not reflect the Stafford restructure, or the Alaric Jackson contract. Depending upon how those deals are structured, the Rams cap space could be MUCH lower (but certainly not higher) than the current reported amount.

Of course, there are other avenues to create cap space ... couple outright releses or restructures; and the potential trades of Kupp and/or Jonah Jackson.

WR or TE. You basically need two very good receiving options in this league to be an elite contender. With Kupp healthy, I think the Rams have that, but he is very often not healthy, resulting in him playing nowhere near that level of production, and it seems the Rams are looking to move on from him. That just leaves Puka, with not much behind him. And he is somewhat injury prone, so we will be forced to play without him at times. I used to rank CB as our biggest need, but the entire defense really came on as the year progressed, particularly in the secondary, though I think the secondary's improvement was in no small part the ripple effect of the defensive line really starting to dominate up front. Be it through the draft or free agency, my order of priority would be: receiving threat (fill it via WR or TE, doesn't matter), CB, RT, LB, RB.

All things being equal, I would prefer a WR to a TE. I don't think a strong TE is ever really a "need". Great to have one, but you can function without it. I would be fine rolling with Higbee again. Then, next year, when we can easily get both Higbee and Parkinson off the books, bring in a new TE player. But we already are committing lots of dollars to the TE room. Not sure I'd go there again with a prime pick or big free agency money. But this is apparently an amazing TE class so who knows.

Really, just take the best player available. Remember when Donald was a "luxury pick" because we had an amazing d-line already? Or when Gurley was a reach because we already had productive RBs? Things change so fast in the NFL. Take whoever you think is the best.

This will be interesting, the more I hear people talk about this class of WR, the more i hear it's pretty meh. I keep hearing it's just McMillan and a bunch of guys. Seems like a bad class to be looking for an X receiver.
