Any Bowlers out there?

I don't think I've ever seen a thread on Bowling. But I just shot my 2nd 300 tonight and ended up with a 727 series. My dad was the manager of a bowling alley for about 24 years and when I was little I got everything free. I probably owe that place 100 grand lol Bowling has run through my family for 3 generations. So I've been bowling for a while.

My best series was a 63? back when The Hammer ball first came out early 80's

Used to go into the bar after league. They expanded bar area,put in some dart boards,both electronic and steel tips. Joined a dart league and gave up bowling the next year

Gratz man!! I used to bowl. Came from a bowling family and bowled from the time I could walk till I was 19 when I retired lol. Bowled a 300 and got close many many times as well with 299's and shit. High series of 780 or around there, forget now since I'm 30. Even got scholarship offers. Was a different lifetime ago.

Thanks dude. That's awesome though. But yeah same here I've bowled my whole life. It's fun when you do well haha I hope to never bowl a 299. Idk if I could handle it. But I'm sure it will happen eventually. Unfortunately bowling is a dying sport. It used to be the only thing you did on rainy days lol

Yea, 299 was bad, the 298 was worse, and the 297 just made me feel like an idiot lol. Then a bunch of 279's which is really just as close but it just gnaws at you the rest of the game lol. Hope you get to find out all of them

I used to be in handicap leagues back in the day and bowled awesome with a body full of beer. Never got a 300. 265 and 270 were my best games.
Ever since I dialed back the drinking though, I don't seem to bowl as well. I have maybe a 165 avg now (based on my last 3 games with the wife).

Yea, 299 was bad, the 298 was worse, and the 297 just made me feel like an idiot lol. Then a bunch of 279's which is really just as close but it just gnaws at you the rest of the game lol. Hope you get to find out all of them

Oh yeah, I've had plenty of 279s. They're painful. But yeah, it's not very popular anymore.

Haha, it's funny how Bowling and Golf are the only two sports that give out a handicap. Probably because you can still play them at 80 years old lol I had maybe 3 beers in me when I did it. So that might be the trick because I don't normally drink while I bowl.

I've bowled a 299 about 5 times..... on wii bowling.

Haha. I've always enjoyed bowling, but I've never been that great at it. I usually bowled anywhere between 160-190. I haven't played in a few years though.

194 is great. If you can average around 200 that's just about as good as you can do if you're not a pro. I throw a little hook but only compared to some. My average went up to 212 after last night. That would be the highest I've averaged since I bowled for high school. Jim Gaffigan does a hilarious bit on bowling.

Bowled in a league back in the 70's, only around a 150 average.

When I was a boy my dad gave my mom a bowling ball for Christmas. She was perplexed and even ticked off at him for giving her something she had no use for. They had a big argument and within a few months she took lessons and joined a bowling league. She bowled often and carried a 170+ average for years. Then they argued about her going bowling all the time. Still cracks me up.

Back in the day bowling was a regular thing on TV. Earl Anthony and Carmen Salvino come to mind. Today it's kind of been forgotten as a sport.

If I remember correctly ex-Ram Jerome Bettis is a 200 average bowler.

I've managed to throw gutter balls with the kiddy rails up. Multiple times. Seriously.

I suck at it. The only thing I really enjoy about bowling is that there's a full bar in the alley near me and they do the Midnight bowling thing. That's were they turn the lights way down and have the colored pins... when a colored pin pops up in the front, you win cash if you throw a strike.

I used to bowl in leagues but quit after I peeled all my wrist bones open on my bowling arm. High game is 279. That pesky 7 pin! Congrats on the 300! I've been thinking of reinventing my game lately. I think my gimpy ass can still manage to get that 300 some day.
