Misses happen in FA. Plus the Rams have been fucking up their vet decision making for years and have missed on their share for sure. And yet still managed two Super Bowl appearances in a 5 year window.

So I'd love to see them bat a thousand but it's not realistic. They're human. Plus I was very excited about Robinson's signing when it happened, with visions of him giving us a second security blanket for Stafford. This means I feel this one rather acutely, the fail of it and all that. Oh well. On to the draft.
I still think the OL troubles were the majority of Robinson's problems.

Stafford did not have time to look for two receivers so he went with his security blanket Kupp.

The Rams may have been a destination a couple of years ago but, right now I don’t see that being the case. The roster is not competitive

Which is exactly why the Rams ARE a 'destination' team in 2023. The draft picks have little choice, but for UDFA's and second tier free agents, I imagine many players wanting to come to the Rams to get NFL playing time they aren't likely to receive on otherwise stacked teams.

Certainly a factor. But McVay is more than capable of adjusting to that don't you think. If Robinson had nothing to do with his struggles. If he was some victim of circumstance.

So I think his part in the failure, his contribution, was that he didn't know wtf he was doing. It's the only thing that explains the behaviors we are seeing.

So for players that are not going to make the Rams a winner any time soon. Awesome

As I stated, I can not see a clear path to relevancy in the NEAR FUTURE. 3-5 years? Sure, I can see that, and I am fine with it. But even that will be tough as we will lose our current starting QB, our HOF DT and who knows how Kupp will hold up over that period.

They have time to restock the cupboard, but they will have to be amazingly creative and hit on a high percentage of their picks as this team currently has one of the (IMO) weakest rosters in the league.

All I am saying is that they have their work cut out for them, but that is why they make the big bucks and I am just a jabroni on a fan forum. Not sure why anything I said in my post would trigger anyone, haha.
Not triggered at all sorry if asking that made you feel I was triggered. Just find it funny there's so much negativity and pessimism directed at those two men that delivered the Rams a championship team. They built a winner they can do it again and they'll do it faster than what a lot of people are estimating. But that's just my opinion.

If you are still expecting the Rams to be a 2023 play-off caliber team, ... good luck on that.
I agree, I’m not. But, McVay thinks they can still compete for the division title. He said as much in an interview two weeks ago but I think he is just trying to sell it so they can have a few fans in the stands.

Question is, do we gamble with a QB this year or, and more likely, take one highly in the 1st next year?

I have been thinking that myself. My guess we gamble on a guy in this draft if the right one is there. Serves as backup and perhaps future starter.

I really don't get the "Tank" for Caleb angle......We would need to win, what....one game max to get the top spot in order to justify "Tanking"?
Does anyone here think Matthew Stafford and Mr on the field Titan #10 won't win more than that? You can debate the defense having issues and even the offense for some games, but I can't see this offense Not winning at least 3 games......are you all saying that the Texans, Cardinals, Panthers, and Bears will all have more wins?

I agree. A team with McVay, Stafford, Donald, and Kupp will win some games.

Agree. The Rams have something like 45 players signed. Most teams are between 65-70. All UDFA’s should be lining up to sign with the Rams.

The Rams TOO OFTEN have to eat shit and get out of a bad deal. It's not talked about enough.

Snead is damn lucky we got the SB or he'd be on the hot seat right now.
So building a Super Bowl winning team was “lucky,” but moves that don’t work out are indicative of, what…incompetence, warranting “hot seat” status?

Tough crowd. :eyeroll:

Yeah, to me it seems it's about setting the table for 24' & 25'.

So that entails:

1. Clearing cap space long-term
2. Add youth via draft, UDFA, & waiver wire during camp
3. Develop that youth to find solid starters as well as to strengthen the back end of the roster
4. Find out if recent draft picks will be a part of the future.

Then in 24' hit FA & trades to put them back into a SB window.

The question then is will Stafford & Donald be apart of a 24' & 25' window?

That IS the question. IMO, ‘24 will be the last gasp for Donald and Stafford (here’s hoping they have enough gas for that!). This is why this draft and next is so important.

Simply put, the Rams need to hit on somebody big. Sure, they have a lotta holes to fill, but that’s just to be competitive. They need a couple stars to make a run, especially if we’re talking ‘25. That’s 3 seasons away!

The Rams have 3 things to attract FAs:
1) McVay
2) $$ to spend in ‘24
3) a couple of high end players left from the title team, hungry for a last run and who know how to win.

The roster looks scary bad, they have so many holes to fill I really have to question paying AR to play for someone else. He isn’t that bad.

I don’t see how any fans be ok with throwing a year away just because they made a run 2 years ago and won a SB .
I seem to remember the overwhelming opinion of ARob last year, started in week 1 and got progressively vitriolic as the weeks went by. It was "he sucks. What a waste of money. Get rid of the guy". And now that they have, it's "he isn't bad and we could use him"?

As far as the roster "looking scary bad", isn't that a product of lack of famiarity? We've got Donald and a bunch of 2nd and 3rd year guys on the DL. Jones and not much familiarity at LB. Fuller at S and a bunch of 2nd year guys we hardly know. It's been concluded our OL sucks but is that really the case? Where else are we weak on offense? RB? We'll get one of those in draft, I'd bet. TE? Prolly one of those too. Maybe even an IOL. For sure a WR now. And a bunch of defensive guys. The top 3 picks are going to be the guyd we need to break into the lineup and at least contribute at some point in the season. But it's scary bad because we don't know many of them, they're young and inexperienced. Does that mean it's an absolute fail? Not so sure about that.

I don't feel as if I displayed an inordinate amount of either of those. I am just struggling to see the path for the Rams to build back to where they were even last year. Should (hopefully) be interesting to watch.

Feels like it’s Christmas Day and instead of presents, you find out your dad lost his job and Christmas is cancelled…
Only to find his dream job that he would never have pursued had he not lost his job. With the new job comes a huge Christmas bonus and presents from floor to ceiling for everyone. Yeah…I’m an eternal Rams optimist.

You know what's funny? These guys have been thinking outside the box since day one. They have been lauded for it and after 1 injury plagued season, they are getting an immense amount of crap. Isn't it possible, they plan on having the pick of the litter with UDFA's? Like Charlie Weiss said, it's almost like an art form talking these kids into signing with your team. The most important aspect is not the money but the chance to make the 53. We have 44 players signed now that ARob is gone. 11 draft picks. That's a total of 55. Surely many of these kids who go undrafted (and may have a chip on their shoulder) will feel they can beat out 3 guys.
