Remember that the Rams have a new coaching staff. They have no way of really knowing what they can get out of these players on the team. They could say to themselves that Tru played at a high level in 2016, so I believe that I can get that out of him again in my system. If they don't think that they maybe the Rams hired the wrong coaches.

Tru was good enough in the past to hang onto for now. This staff transition will take time. They don't want to make mistakes by letting the wrong guys walk.

I'm thinking that they feel confident they can sign him long term, its not like they would franchise someone else.
Throw the non exclusive on him and maybe Gregg Williams convinces Cleveland to sign him and we end up with 2 #1's...
A man can dream...
You just gave me a hard on!

It's the same GM who ticked away all the freed cap space from letting go of Cook, Laurinaitis and Long. It's the same GM that signed the 118th ranked CB over Pro Bowler Casey Hayward and for the same amount. Nothing will shock me with Snead. We missed out on a stud at GM in Chris Ballard. He will turn around Indy just watch.

THIS!!!!! Exactly right you are. So dumb on Snead's part.

Fisher is gone we'll see now how good Snead is.

Same GM who gave up the farm to draft a QB who had never played under center and is clearly not the best QB from the class. Same GM who traded Bradford for Nick Foles. Same GM who signed Coty Sensabaugh, Cam Thomas and Quinton Coples. Worst off-season I have ever seen was 2016. I wouldn't say constantly found bargains btw, we didn't even want to spend a seventh round pick on La'El Collins.

Amazing after one season we know who is good and isn't good from a draft class. Most people who know football will say it takes three years for a player to fully develop in the NFL but now it's just a handful of games. I'm not going to get in another Goff vs Wentz (or Dak for that matter but anybody who says they always thought he was the best QB in the class are lying and should be in the Washington DC area code) but to claim after one season the debate is over is just pure folly.

Tru's official franchise tag tender would be $16.7 million.

Also, since I know some on here are hopeful of this...

I really just hate that trade soo much. Snead better come through. I've been on his side but this news is making me sick

Clearly not the best qb? How is anything clear after just 7 games played in the worst offense in the league? Who is the clear cut best qb from that class?

He just came off one of the worst rookie seasons. Now I understand what you are saying but still Kessler outplayed him for christ sakes.

I like Tru but at that price? Ugh. Hope we can extend him to get rid of that. We need all the space we can get.

I am convicted over the tag again but I could argue the pro side just as good as I could argue against. Is Tru worth this salary cap hit? No possible way.

But when you trade away a first, two seconds & a third round selections like the Rams did last draft & this draft ....there's going to be a high price to pay....this is a perfect example. Time to suck it up & take your drastic tasting medicine for that trade.

I am sure that the Rams could have used one of the two 2016 second round selections last season to get a replacement for JJ & the Rams would be in much better shape in outside corners. Without Tru in the Ram 2017 corner cadre, the Rams would be in horrific condition with no NFL caliber starting corners on the roster. This is sure to put a big hit on all you drooling over these upcoming UFA's signings.

IMO we played too much zone under Greg Williams, and to an extent it suited Tru well because he loved looking back at the QB and breaking on the ball. However, Wade prefers playing man. So maybe they see Tru's length and skillset as a better fit in a press man scheme just like JJ took his game to another level playing more man.

Kessler came from a pro style offense and had Hue Jackson getting him ready to play. Goff had boras and fisher. Not to mention Kessler had Joe Thomas protecting his blindside and a somewhat functioning running game.

Through 7 games Kessler has been better than Goff yes but that doesn't really mean anything. It's clear to me Goff has intangibles that Kessler doesn't. That will show up going forward in their careers.

Wow someone not on the Rams outplayed him.

I know you meant Case Keenum. But that isn't saying much Keenum was awful too.

You mean the guy that actually had somebody to coach him up on being a QB like Hue Jackson? Poor Goff had Jeff freaking Fisher.

LOL all the sky is falling is comical :D I love the off season hahaha. Just a couple weeks ago people were positive about the direction of the club and loved the coaching staff. Today we announce the use of the franchise tag and omg the sky is falling everybody is pissed off again :D

It amuses me that we are sure as fukk that GM's like Snead suck so bad that people think he's gravitational...Yet they get paid and we don't...lol. SLOW YER ROLL...

God Snead sucks. Can't believe we kept him and didn't hire Chris Ballard.

Im not ready to go that far in critcizing Snead just yet. We may never know the true power structure that him and Fisher employed so it's hard for me to judge at this point. Let's see how this draft and free agency period go and then I think we'll have a better idea about Snead.
